  • Let’s make a charming indoor plant with colored sand
    Tools you need
    Glass bowl
Spoon / Bamboo skewer / Dropper
    Funnel (or funnel shaped paper)
    Any hydroponic plant
Rainbow Sand* (for plant use only)
Colored sand (any colored sand is o.k.)
We use a spoon and a funnel for the first half of the process,
and use the rest for latter half.
First, put larger amount of colored sand
at the bottom of the glass bowl.
Next, put any colored sand you’d like to mound into the bowl.
Place a spoon against the glass bowl
to bring out the color shades visibly.
Then, pour the colored sand thick and fast.
When you see a dent in the center,
use a funnel to pour “Rainbow Sand”
    into the dent.
Then, pour the colored sand again to fill the outer surface.
Repeat the process till just about 80% of the bowl.
Once the sand reaches 80% of the bowl,
    level the surface nicely.
Stick a skewer into the center,
and pour water along the skewer.
Pour water slowly and patiently into the bowl.
Absorb the excess water with a dropper.
After the sand harden without any excess water,
make a hole to plant a plant.
Plant a plant gently not to hurt its roots.
Secure the plant by pouring the sand into spaces firmly.
Stuffing the sand into the bowl with a bamboo skewer.
Make sure the plant is planted securely.
Last of all, finish it up with some toppings.
Enjoy different variations by changing colors and sizes!
    *Rainbow Sand… Coarse-grained and well-drained sand.

what nutrients do you add with the water to the plants and what type of sand do you use? How do you color the sand so intensely? Thank you!

These won’t last like this. The water will turn green from mold. The plants won’t tolerate living in sand w/no nutrients, and the added nutrients will cause mold to form. You need to put the plant in a separate container in the middle.
