I played drums in a band with Sean. Look up Multi-Color House Jannus Landings. Sound Quality sucks but it is Nostalgia. I think he was 18 yrs. old at that time.
@@antoniostojanovski9008 You're both wrong, too many notes can be true if theres no thought applied. But same goes for too little, one can be unimaginative, but a good musician can tell a story wether with many or few notes.
@@Omnatten9 hell, I bought a $120 Rouge III. After a total set up, and a set of DR Black Beauties. I am so sold on the fretless. I need another. Acoustic or semi hollow.
@@andrewgocken517 my dad bought me a used Stagg Fusion for 120€ and that's the first and only bass I currently have. Playing a fretted one is now weird to me 😂
Glad to see the bass getting the credit it deserves. Turtle neck bass player looks like a mastermind who sips his coffee with coy smiles and spins around his leather office chair when no one is looking.
This track is a blast!!! I love it more, with each time ,i hear it!!! Sad, that they have'nt recorded more of this stuff!!! It grooves and rocks, so perfect.
The thing is, extended range guitars in the lower notes are getting into bass territory and have much less power than it. Also djent-ish tones tend to be very dry so they don't get muddy. Or they just act as a low range section while the bassist is also doing his thing, or there's just no bass at all. I mean, whatever works in order not to step on a bass player's toes.
and thank fuck. maybe i'm bass-biased but it's a relief to actually hear music that isn't solely designed to appease the guitarists who contributed to it. bass guitars should be more prominent in mixes full stop.
Calling Sean Malone a mere bass player is like calling the SR-71 blackbird an "airplane". What an astounding player. This is some really interesting music.
@@Adrian_MS86 One of the lucky fucks to actually have a custom shop Ibanez. I'd kill for one of those SR fretless without risking damaging the board to pull the frets.
I play Drum style progressif fusion rock jazz, but i d'ont like to much free play drum style is on off and no musical drummeur sorry for you man relaxxxxxx and be musical
Rest in peace Sean Malone. Fretless bass master you were an inspiring musician for all of us 🙏🏻🎸🎶

hes fingering is so on point, i didnt even know he was playing fretless.
Giant inspiration to my Bass playing. First Cynic album blew my mind.
RIP Sean, his bass playing will always be nothing short of magical
Eh. He plays too many notes. Doesn't let the music breathe.
@@tomalophicon There is nothing like ,,too many notes". There are only people who lack skills to play more notes correctly like he does
@@tomalophicon Meh, you’re an idiot.

Great Malone!
The Fretless Bass Maestro.... Mr. Sean Malone! RIP Genius! ❤🩹
Very impressive blend of prog metal with jazzy linings. Rest in peace Malone, and Reinert too.
Sean Malone is the most talented bassist of Cynic...who is now gone to soon but never be forgotten. RIP
This Malone guys the reason I got a fretless. Love it. Back to learning.
SAME HERE!

@@Omnatten9 funny. I literally just started converting a 4string ESP LTD, into a fretless. Can't wait to finish it.
May he rest in power :(
Sean was a Genius ! Period ! RIP Maestro ! Great loss to Bass Kingdom indeed !
RIP Sean. He's the guy that made me play the 5 string fretless in metal genres.
RIP Sean Malone.. 🙏 ❤
Master Sean Malone Rest In Peace. Good journey to the immortality
Man Heller is a beast on the drums. The guy can play any style it seems. I love his more technical playing here. RIP Malone.
Wow! Just... "WOW"! Sean Malone is the man!
Long live recordings where the bass is actually audible 🤘🏽
SEAN GOODBYE YOU WERE MY HEART
💔🙏
So groovy
We need more of these three masters!
If only they had had an album full with such masterpieces.
Mr. Sean Malone is a excellent gurtariest he sheds and excellent drumming and bassist a great 3 piece band if u ask me it Rocks ❤❤❤
RIP Sean, RIP Cynic. RIP all.

@@ryneagheilim9782 And Gordian Knot, and meny others. Bass Genius
malone was a bit of a weirdo in a good way. he was in a documentary about pencils which i found funny
OMG Heller and Malone in one set!!!!
I can't believe 2/3 of Cynic are gone just like that. The last 7 years have been unkind to many of my heroes and loved ones alike💔
RIP Sean, I saw you once and I saw your brilliance!
This track is a blast!!!

This deserves a lot more likes and views - just wonderful !
Only way to get that technique is to get a face like that Sean looks like a matrix program
Built to just play bass
0:35 that quick riff is so killer.
Heller & company TOOOOP👍👍👍
God the tama silverstar mirage sounds so good. It's the kit I have now and it's the best purchase I've ever made.
Que locura maestros!!!!!! Impecable!
I guess Sean was in charge of the final mix? 😂

Bala Codax I like to hear the bass too, but it's totally dominating the rhythm guitar here. A small boost would just bring things into balance.
@@kl7360 personally I kinda think the drums should be boosted a bit turned up maybe 15% turn the guitar up maybe 5% and leave the bass alone
ahahaha
Aaàaaaaahbthe clean solo❤️❤️❤️
Sean is a master!
Rest In Power Sean
great trio!
Awesome, nice take on an RG2228 too. Hope this music is available.
Please, more!
woooowwww Malone.... congrats!!
really great thing!!
Bring back the turtle neck,!!
Oops and that was amazing
Cheers from wa
Holy shit!!! Amazing!!

I like Gordian Knot, and I've come here.
Were did this song appeared? It's sean malone first appearance after a long long time no playing for a band
Some guitar passages gave me ron jarzombek type vibes from bottled science animation of entomology see cretaceous chasm
☆Sean... RIP!
Increíble
GOOD......................
3:37 to 3:43. WoW. WOW WOW I cant even
This is so sick, really like the guitarist's style--- almost mechanical at points and then really organic at others, nice mix.
R.I.P. Sean...
Is this ‘YOSHIKI’ drum set?
Mike!!! Get those new Malignancy drum tracks recorded!!! Please!!! For the benefit of the entire music world!!!
Why is the guitar largely inaudible during the "heavy" parts of the song?
EQ I suppose
Can i ask what is the brand of bass guitar? Plssss
It's an Ibanez SR5005E... the trick of his sound is the fretless

Jazz-core?
Addio sean 😞😞
Hey guys! Sean use 2 or 3 fingers?
Just two!
I believe three
супер
Awesome! But what is this? A new band, a one time thing, ???
just a video they made for Mike to promote his Tama endorsement.
Sadly won't be a new band. Sean Malone just died. RIP
Soo hodl!!
Drummer needs some splash cymbals
Never thought i'd say this, but the guitar is way too low in the mix.
Good as the bass may be, it's mixed way too loud here. Love Sean Malone's stuff to bits though.
Where’s Howard Jones ? What this music can’t have a big always heartbroken dude vibe to it?
Yeah, that's not a Buffalo Springfield cover 😂
Cynic vibes
Heller pre Malignancy
I dont know.... I'll change the guy that play guitar for another.
Bass sounds amazing but that guitar is almost non existent in the mix. Drums are set back a bit as well. Too bad.
What a strange way to end a song. This needs better songwriting. Malone is still the best, even after all these years.
Control Denied...
What about them?
What a waste. Malone was a god among men.

Too much bass in the mix either turn the Gtrs up or lower the bass, music is awesome!
It's never enough of exactly that, particular bass.
This kind of jaco style is not for metal... i love both... this is is not .. But it does sound good... Hmmmmm....
Drummer needs to compliment not dictate
Good thing there's no rule book. Everyone's a star in this piece.
Damn parts of this sound like they could be lost songs from ATHEIST - ELEMENTS, bad ass stuff
guitar needs some serious compression
