To clarify from PC Gamer that thing is called the Nameless Queen. It's legit like a Xenomorph and according to them it's tamable. Their site says it can impregnate your enemies with the baby version of those minions and they come out like chestbursters.

I actually rlly liked watching trilobites move peacefully on the beach,but then saddened to see a man come over with a megatherium and kill it. Now I will tame its Cousin and grab and smash all people who killed my trilobite friends to the ground. that will show them that to stick to killing bugs instead of trilobites >:D

According to the post on survive the ark, they mention a creature called the Nameless Queen which may be the crab or the thing at the end, but the Nameless Queen is supposed to be able to impregnate its enemies with horriffic chest bursting creatures, stuff of nightmares that is, straight out of alien too

Syntac just a friendly critique but when you go through the parts of the trailer the looped clips are extremely annoying to watch when they go so fast. You can't see anything because it only lasts for 1 sec (for instance 8:50). I'd recommend either slow motion clips or just stills. Other than that I'm very much looking forward to this map and seeing you guys play on it.

My theory: maybe, because the 'station' is damaged that might have made this ark start to deteriorate and all the biome and stuff got all messed up, creating all the weird environments in this map. It might also be the reason for all this weird creatures, they might be mutated versions of regular creatures due to the damage sustained. Conclusion: the damage has turned a normal ark into something completely different due to malfunctions in its environment and wildlife generating systems or whatever.
If you check the ark news thingy on steam you can find out that there are 'radiation leaks' as part of the new challenges on Abberation so that's most likely true

If you think about the name of the map Aberration, the definition of aberration is 'a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected, typically one that is unwelcome.' I would assume that this ARK 'failed' in a sense that it's 'obelisk rings' broke and was left by the ARK 'controllers' to die, but surprisingly it survived and has become something abnormal and something never before seen, that might be part of the lore of this map. Idk just a thought for now.

My guess is that you start underground in these caves dew to the lack of oxygen the surface, if this is the broken ark, as it looked lifeless and barren.

also syntac ... the ziplines if you can place them they are not the evolution of the parachute they are the evolution of the grapling hook, the glider is the evolution of the parachute
also i predict / bet 100 bucks that there wont be ANY flyers the fact that weve seen the gliding rockdrake and the glider parachute thingy tells me that its gonna be harder to get around the place because there are no flyers

Also, the rock climbing tools can be used for many things. Your bird may have died while out, so you need them to climb things. You could use them to climb player bases, making it hard to know that you're coming to attack since the enemy wont see a flying dino right outside the base. There are many uses for them.

16:00 on the left a cave is glowing purple... and in the giant Wyvern-Rex scene there were glowing purple crystals, so maybe the surface is like a boss arena where the Wyvern-Rex is the boss?

Ya know rewatching this makes me think this dlc could be really awesome for No Tame servers. All the new modes of trasport could make it a lot more manageable than it is currently

Tbh I would actually welcome the idea of not having any flyers spawning on this map as I am seeing on myself that it kinda destroys the connection to the ground. Once a reasonable fast and strong flyer is obtained, noone really transports on ground anymore. I am excited for that invisible Raptor thing as this looks like to be a way cooler and fun way to get around and explore :)
Syntac remeber that they often use "cheat builds" in their videos (including the offical release video) just to make it look nice. Thats to say, builds that use the normal game assets but you might need cheats like no collision and such to make them.

The 'alien goop' at 3:15 is normal stalegmite. It's common in caves and created by water dripping through stone.
The rock drake seems like a giant microraptor, based on the way the devs were talking about creatures mutating it seems like it could be possible
I think that after one of the pilons composing the ark exploded, many giant fragments fell on the island destroying it, creating earthquakes and making the obelisks fall.
After all that destruction the species that survived had to evolve to survive on the new enviroment composed of dark caves (meganeura to light bug, maybe angler to angler pug cute thing and purlovia to mole rat)
The incident didn't only make creatures evolve but also created new life.
With one of the ark 3 pieces destroyed the barrier that protected the island got thinner exposing the ark to space radiations, and the goblin things use those radiation to get a strenght effect.
At least this is my personal opinion on what might have happened to that ark.

The top area of the map, where the obalisk are, is full of radiation, and there are radiation suits. It actually shows you that too, I think, cause when the player has the electric gun look at the gloves. Also, aberration is a abandoned ark. And the animals are weird because they were mutated by radiation.
Another theory is if you recall the end of ark after killing the overseer, your survivor turns into data and flies into an ark. Around the planet was one red ark. I believe this is that ark because of it not being a normal ark. It is destroyed and has lost its obelisks, thus removing the overseer's power. By proving your might, the overseer sends you to this damaged ark in its final moments to attempt to fix this ark because you have proven your might.
The boss probably powers up those things

The environment reminds me of Pandora from Avatar, but also Journey to the Center of the Earth, with an entire massive ecosystem underground. That black creature looks like a combination of a xenomorph queen, the Bandersnatch, and one of those scorpion creatures from Riddick (the head does at least).
It's really bugging me how the clips are replayed over and over. I think screenshots would be better hen you're showing the things you want to point. Still, great vid! :D Btw, I think the shaking in a part of the video was an earthquake since I heard it's one of the features of this map.
My theory is that the broken "ark" area fell on the island and made a radiation explosion which activated all other obelisks and turned the island into this weird alien looking place

The camouflaged gliding super dive dragon lizard that climbs walls is going to be my new favorite creature. My current favorite ark creatures are the griffin and the megalania. Having a creature that climbs walls like the megalania, can glide/dive like a griffin, and can camouflage is like a dream come true! I can’t wait for October! It better be ready by then or I’ll... I’ll... I’ll....... -.-

In the beginning of the trailer, when the guy spawns you can see the thing where you would access the obelisk inventory and how there is no light coming from it, so when you see the purple obelisk at the end it probably means that it is unpowered
The glide pack might be like the parachute, or a new bodyarmor, or an armor attachment, if it is then we could be getting a flaslight attachment for helmets.
After I saw the trailer yesterday I literally had a dream about it. Not joking...
It looks like the large meteorite destroyed one of the oblisks. Maybe each one performs several different tasks like sustaining life or an atmosphere and the broken one kept the shield up that protected it from the sun but one of the others kept everything alive despite the above world.

"Aberration - a state or condition markedly different from the norm" clearly something big has gone wrong with the overseeing of this ark facility, maybe other, more powerful lifeforms have tampered with this ark and made it seem almost dead, which may be why the pillar surrounding that place is destroyed, maybe it needs all 3 to be able to project recordings or signals of some type and have now made the signal broke and your quest could be to somehow increase the signal strength but that's not likely

15:50 That's the earth dried up, it shows it when you complete ark (before you do the boss battle). Also Aberration was the closest to the earth, that's also how I know.
that crazy wyvern creature at the end is a world boss as in every new map trailer they show a boss every time
Likely most of this is underground as when you see the player outside for sure they are wearing a space suit.
So to explain the light bio-luminescence coming from Mushrooms or gems on the ceiling most likely.
My theory is, that this was a shutdown ARK, so nobody was watching over it and stuff, but later they found it again, brought it back to Life, and now the Player has to "fix" the broken stuff(like the dev's should do) like the Obelisk's.
Heres my theory on this ark: The aliens and the Overseer are getting ready to make the island map we all know of today. As they were finishing creating this ark, It malfunctioned and the ark became unstable, with the surface being harsh and deadly due to the radiation and heat of the areas outside of this ark. The aliens decided to abandon the island, leaving the ark broken without noticing any living life on the island. All the survivors left on the island,(said on the wiki) mutated into Ravenous savages known as "the nameless" following their unknown queen. It is up to the humans who haven't mutated to survive the harsh wild of this ark. meanwhile,the aliens create a new ark, Being the island we all know and love. Little did the aliens know, Life still lives in this ark, and the survivors(us) are living strong and have learned how to live in this "Aberration"

Great video. I'm assuming that the part of the map that looked like a core or something is actually a new variation of obelisk. Also I bet that creature that looks like diablo is either a boss (hope fully not), or the new iconic trex of space (hopefully). I know I wouldn't mind taming one anyway.

My theory is that maybe, we are in a broken ark island, and thay these creatures were normal and when the obelisk broke, maybe some kind of programming was interrupted causing some kind of terrain/wildlife generator failure. I dunno, just my idea.

The last creature is most likely a endboss. And its probably very deep under the upper cavesystem you wish to live on.

The game went from a dino survival game, to an evolution survival game and I really like that. I never played the game for the dinos really, I like the mammals better, so I am really liking this transition

That obelisk right at the end looks purple rather than the green red and blue of the other three arks. But I like the look of the new map. It looks great to be honest it was worth staying up too watch the announcement for this. I like the look of the rock drake. I wonder if the will impliment that sort of technologly into the suits you can wear. Where your suits have the ability to cloak yourself when you are not on a rock drake? Harvest something from the rock drake too craft the suit to allow you too cloak.
i could see a metal cable attached to a ballista spear bolt and launching it with the harpoon gun for the zipline
Could the climbing picks be used to scale player walls? That could change some base defense dynamics.

if you can get the creatures and pickaxes to climb walls without buying the dlc then thats is cool. I bought scortched earth to support the devs but Am happy everyone can enjoy wyverns without dlc

the only thing that troubles me about this dlc is i dont think prim plus will be supported and im mainly a prime plus player. but i will keep my fingers crossed
Here my theory
The creators of these arks built the overseer's to take care of the ark ships. Overseerers are not the creators or anything. The overseer's try to kill you to prevent you from learning anything about the program. But once the overseer technology is killed, the actual creator of the ark decided that you are to powerful to stay and explains what's happening with simple holograms, then wormholes you out of that ark. You are too powerful to stay on the island and your teleported to Scorched Earth. This explains the weird portal like experience. End after the scorched boss is defeated the creators no longer want you on the working arks. They banish you to the malfunctioning ark: The most terrible and terrifying ark of all. You are put underground to protect from the dangerous radiation that emits on the surface. This radiation mutated the creatures that were supposed to live there. (For instance the angler pug thing) This radiation caused earlier survivors to mutate when they tried to escape from the surface. That resulted in the troll people. They hide underground to protect themselves from this radiation affect.
This I'd just a theory tho so try not to be a dick
i think it would be cool if the giant mushrooms become a "base material" like stone or wood
