    That was really, really cool. Had no idea there was that much "hand holding" and craftsmanship that goes into the product. Makes we want another one. It's like fine art or something. Appreciate you sharing this.

    Very informative Doc...thanks, This shows the attention to detail that Z's go through in the build process.

    Lmao Dr. Z reminds me of that type of teacher you had growing up that didn't know how loud his voice was. I get the feeling that the whole building knows it when the doc is pissed :D

      He's not often pissed, but you do know when he's coming around a corner.

    You do great videos and great amps! Thank you for sharing all of this technical information.It is really helping me on my tone journey here. I had a R66 amp of yours, and I just loved it. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, its really helpful .

    Having been through loads of amps prob not a mega guitarist as a classic race car Engineer but like not to blame the equipment . Only had my Mk 1 18 junior a week but I love it it's like coming home . I use pedals and seems to work so well but the the amp tones itself are sublime . Thanks

    Can you speak to the design of the Stang Ray and how that amp came about and IS there any plans to bring that amp back into production? #drzama

    Thanks so much for doing #drzama. Awsome amps BTW! I've been considering a DR. Z amp for some time. Every time a new amp model comes out it has some things I like but lacks some features I would want. Do you have a "last amp I'll ever need" model or have plans for such a beast? Since I can probably only afford one, I'm wondering which model is the most versatile. I've always liked the Fender clean tones but they didn't have good overdrive channels on their amps. I want to be able to go from clean county twang, funk and surf with the deepest wet reverb and tremolo to crunch for blues and classic rock. Thanks #drzama.

      I just bought the Maz 18jr and it does a killer Fender sound , took me a while to dial it in but if you take the time to get everything soaked in right it sounds as good if not better than tjr handwired vibro king and Princeton amps I have owned . Reverb is different but still really nice. You have a fair bit of gain on tap and a variable boost too.

    Where do you like to set the bias on your MAZ 18 NR Mark II? Thanks in advance, sir!

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      there's no bias to be set. It's self biasing/cathode biased.

    I've always been too scared to bias my amps. Therefore, I appreciate you spending a little time on that. One of these days I'll try it and kill myself, but not yet. :)

      Don't do it if your not confident and don't have good understanding of what everything is how it operstes. It's not rocket science but knowledge will help achieve good results and keep you alive

    Bought a used Maz jr. cheap because it had an intermittent fault. The powertubes were occasionally overheating. The amp had marks from three different techs. I yanked the chassis and pretty quickly discovered that they originally had failed to solder the lead from the powertube cathodes to the turret board cathode resistor/bypass cap combo. Soldered that, and Bob was my uncle. Still can't figure out how they all missed that solder joint... Sold the amp for a good profit.
