Lux...you'll find little argument to him being the best in battle rap. That's where the delivery comes from, captivating the battle crowd. There were some bars in there that you'd have to be from NY and somewhat immersed in "black" culture get, but you guys did great. This is the first video I'm seeing of you guys, so I have no idea how much yall are into hiphop, but for new/novice ears, catching the bars, the double entendras of the real lyricist, is not easy...and if they're as talented as Lux and can build triple entendras....but again, great reaction.
Yeah I kinda got the battle rap vibe from him. He straight killed it!!! Definitely a lot went over our heads but we can still appreciate the craft and what he's bringing to the table. Yeah we both love hip-hop!!! Appreciate that for sure, glad you enjoyed it!!
I always thought it’s genius af that east coast rappers use their accent an advantage to rhyme words that wouldn’t rhyme in any other region. A west coast rapper will most likely rhyme a word that ends with ER with every other word that ends with ER because they enunciate the ER but it doesn’t apply to everyone some west coast people got more twang then others but with east coast rappers they can rhyme a word that ends with ER with a word that ends with ER and words that ends with A which automatically gives them a thousand other options to rhyme with. Their style is lyrical anyway but to have that accent is the cherry on top. it doesn’t stop there with the ER words there’s a hundred other ways they utilize their accent in their raps and it’s always a gem because when you here it you’re like only a person from New York can write this rhyme and make it rhyme.
I noticed these dudes didn’t catch a lot of lines cuz lux does reference some nyc specific things. “That’s water under a high bridge, ay I can boogie”. A Boogie with da Hoodie is from High Bridge in the BX.

Boys in the hood pop up on something furious. Referring to the Boyz In The Hood movie. Trey pops was named Furious. The Michael Jackson bar about taking the last picture. But hating how your face looks in it. Has a double meaning. The picture taker not like his facial expression. Also Michael Jackson messing up. His face over the years with the bleaching and plastic surgery.
