I am from Malaysia but i am in love with indonesian vocalists/singers ever since. They are genius. Been to tulus, afgan, cakra khan and judika’s concerts. IMHO, If i were to compare with malaysian music scene, Indonesians are on another level in lots of aspects. They have a lot of musical talented personalities.
Most of Indonesian singers are better when singing live than recording (coz they can do riffs n runs here n there or whatever they want 2 show off 😊). Famous singers like Afgan, Tulus, Judika, Raisa, Isyana, etc made most of their money from off-air live performances (corporate/government events, crazy rich weddings or private parties), so yes live performances are the standard for the industry here

as an Indonesian i will say that singers from our country have very good singing skills, even if you ask them to sing songs from outside our country it is very good, even if singing live the ability to control high or low notes is very good . .Indonesian singers have different qualities from other countries.. if many countries record more often than live singing, Indonesia will definitely choose to sing live it has become the law.
What is the most popular genre in chart, I think ballads. But because Indonesia has lots and lots of people, so segmented/niche market will also be huge (in terms of number of people) and be "heard". So, yes, it's varied

And you're right, Efra, it's really hard to imagine how someone comes up with the structure of this kind of composition. It seems that Isyana tries to fit in all four movements of a concerto into a 5-minutes song, and she does it brilliantly. And to answer your last question, I think the most popular genre here is dangdut. But if you meant in the pop chart, yes it is pop balad.

And you're right, Efra, it's really hard to imagine how someone comes up with the structure of this kind of composition. It seems that Isyana tries to fit in all four movements of a concerto into a 5-minutes song, and she does it brilliantly.
