@moonwalker5058 The beautiful sounding mechanical bell in Pottstown, PA was replaced a couple years ago by a common Safetran E-Bell. I didn't get to hear a last time before it got dismantled D;
Interesting hearing the differences. Your video is probably the only time one can notice! Griswold sounds indentical to the RACO Thank you for your comparison.
there are 2 of the griswold bells like the one at 2:45 in my city. there is also a WABCO bell at a railroad crossing near me as well. there were 3 griswolds but one was replaced
This is great! In New Zealand, our railways pretty much operated Griswald, Wabco, and Raco level crossing systems...However those annoying E-Bells are slowly taking over.
Your neighbors probably think ur like the quietest of all neighbors. Lol good vid. Wake up in the middle of the night to the flashing of those lights. Lol
the WRRS mini bells sound like the same bell used on The Price is Right when there is a perfect bid in contestant's row or when there is a Double Showcase Win
Safetran bells were not discontinued. There was a crossing in Warminster PA that used to have a Safetran type 3 e-bell, but it was replaced this year with a Safetran mechanical bell
That’s a very good deal, the cheapest teardrop Bells go for nowadays is like 500. It’s even worse if you live in Australia because 500 is probably nearly twice that here. However bargains do appear from time to time. Sellers nowadays try to have the price as high as possible. They have learned that someone is going to be silly enough to buy it at that price. It’s rare now to find someone selling something like that at a decent price.
Lucky there is no E bells where I live. The shortline railroad called the Willamette Valley Railroad in Oregon has NO e bells on its system, luckily..lol
WC Hayes bell was my favoret I lived by an old crossing that had one. Today norfolk southern had replaced the old crossing with a new bell and every thing becauls a train had crashed into a truck crossing the tracks.
Some of the bells are rare....and most of them are current...but phasing out in favour of electronic bells. The teardrop bells...the WRRS Mini-Bells....and the WABCO bells are rare...and hard to find. The others...Griswold...RACO...and Safetran...are not made anymore...but you can still find a good deal of them out there. The Hayes ones are still made...and run brand new for $449. As for the bell ringing a few times...you'd have to have a gate mechanism to do that....or add in a timer.
@@LongboatLtd2004 wrrs became fs in 1970 and became wch in 1977, but wch should definitely make a mini bell! it would be an amazing way to honor the old and beautiful rrs, wrrs, and fs mini bells!
Could you please tell us about the relative rarity of these bells. I am new to this and am researching the variants. I have a crossing signal that has a Hayes bell and lights. I am trying to wire it up like yours, with a motion detector. I want the bell to ring only a few times (to not annoy the neighbors), but the lights to flash until people pass by. I do not have original relays, but modern ones swapped into the box. Thanks for all your cool videos; they are helpful!
I like the RACO and the WC Hayes bell..we have tons of those in Ann Arbor. There's even one crossing ive seen that has a teardrop bell..I've never seen any other that--do they not make them anymore?
Why do the Safetran, RACO, and Griswold look so alike. You can tell its Safetran by the base. But the RACO and Griswold look so alike. How can you tell the difference?
it does because in wisconsin in oak creek when i go to oakwood rd when i see a train pass the signals have a safetran and when i go to ryan rd i see a raco bell and it does sound similar and the raco bell there at ryan rd sounds a bit unhealthy
I love all of those bells! But the teardrop and the mini bells are my favorites!
Harold Fannin i agree that the mini bell is the best 🚂
"mommy can i go over to the crossing bell guy's house?"
Mr.Einstein I would totally ask that 😂
Love the beautiful Griswold bell! So sad that you had too sell all of your equipment. :( But don't give up! Rebuild your crossing signals!
how do you know he did?
agreed! The Griswold bell sounds the best!
@moonwalker5058 The beautiful sounding mechanical bell in Pottstown, PA was replaced a couple years ago by a common Safetran E-Bell. I didn't get to hear a last time before it got dismantled D;
Happy 4th!! All those bells still sounds pretty good!!!
The WC Hayes bell sounds the most classic. I love your video
Interesting hearing the differences.
Your video is probably the only time one can notice!
Griswold sounds indentical to the RACO
Thank you for your comparison.
Awesome Video! Love all the different bells!
This is how railfans celebrate The 4th of July!
Your neighbors just love you! Great video!
there are 2 of the griswold bells like the one at 2:45 in my city. there is also a WABCO bell at a railroad crossing near me as well. there were 3 griswolds but one was replaced
@Will's Vlogs!! What is the city name and what are the street names? Please reply!
I used to watch these all the time when I was younger
The Mini-bell reminds me of those heard in TH-cam vids from Germany and Holland.
in holland we have black WRRS mini-bells
Not wrrs they are some othwr company
This is great! In New Zealand, our railways pretty much operated Griswald, Wabco, and Raco level crossing systems...However those annoying E-Bells are slowly taking over.
Thats cool Owen! Teardrop bells are rare. Love the video! Happy 4th of July!
Your neighbors probably think ur like the quietest of all neighbors. Lol good vid. Wake up in the middle of the night to the flashing of those lights. Lol
US&S Bell sounded cool! lol
My favorites are the WRRS 1275 mini bell and the WC hayes 333 (1st generation), along with the US&S 15a teardrop bell. Wish i could get one 🚂
1:28 Yes, I heard that bell when it was before the Electronic bell replacement on Latham Rd. In IL Route 2.
2:10 I like that US&S teardrop Bell, it has a nice tune.😊
Wow that's cool, I love the WC Hayes bell, great video 🙂👍
Those WCH, Griswold, and Teardrop bells scream classic!
Love the video man! Those bells are awsome, especially the rare ones.
the WRRS mini bells sound like the same bell used on The Price is Right when there is a perfect bid in contestant's row or when there is a Double Showcase Win
The WC Hayes bell sounds good
Teardrop is a big favorite :)
All of the crossings here have WC Hayes bells except 2 have e bells
they hayes is my favorite
i noticed some of the clips are out of chronologcal order. For the WRRS mini bel it was dark, then in the next clip, it is daylight again
4:24 WC HAYES IS THE BEST
I like the way that WABCO sounds.
I like that teardrop bell! we have one on one of our crossing were I work
Sweet video! Nice test on a great 4th of July evening!
Safetran bells were not discontinued. There was a crossing in Warminster PA that used to have a Safetran type 3 e-bell, but it was replaced this year with a Safetran mechanical bell
those are rare!!!!!!! they quit the hibrid bell to
Yoshi the Railfanner they replaced a e bell with a mechanical??
How dare you! I love Safetran Type 3s and it is not customary to replace E-bells with M bells.
I love the bells of WC Hayes and the Teardrops.
5/5 and favorites.
Greetings.
I found a US&S teardrop bell with all the guts inside it up here in Canada at an antique shop for $125 USD.
Was that a good deal ??
Belleville197 a very good deal!
Yes!!!
Gametrain Productions I WOULD KILL FOR THAT AND IM NOT HK

Redhen Railcar SAR yes
Like the safetran gate in some of the shots on the ground
If you look at the back of the bell, it should say what company the bell comes from.
I think I saw a shooting star at 1:45.unless i have mistaken a firework for one.
3:12 Yes, It is a Lower Pitch Griswold Bell.
At 4:16 it starts to sound like a war zone with all those fireworks lol. Nice bells, man. Great vid.
1:45 there's a shooting star
Pretty!
Ice Bear Yeah
WHAT SHOOTING ST-OH, NEVERMIND!
what you saw was a firework flying
that's actually a firefly it looks like a shooting star
WRRS Mini bell sounds like a teardrop
Looks pretty cool!
9 years ago oh the memories.
Lucky there is no E bells where I live. The shortline railroad called the Willamette Valley Railroad in Oregon has NO e bells on its system, luckily..lol
The WCH Bell is my favorite, by far!!!
WC Hayes bell was my favoret I lived by an old crossing that had one. Today norfolk southern had replaced the old crossing with a new bell and every thing becauls a train had crashed into a truck crossing the tracks.
NBA GB there's a crossing in Redmond that has a Western Cullen hayes bell (139th Ave NE)
wonder what it would sond like if you did them all together
The US&S teardrop bell and RACO bell are ROBLOX sound effects now.
i have a project to create an electronic bell for a church. Do youknow if i can adjust a lower pace for the ring
regards

owensri2 WRRS should continue making those mini bells because we all love them 🚂

How much was the operating gate?

WRRS mini bell sounds like the old Dutch railroadcrossingbells!
Man I love the RACO and Griswold.
I see why you don't run the mechanical style bell normally; wow!
805031 No, they quit making teardrops in the 1960's, and there is a Safetran type 1 E-bell on ann arbor on Chrysler drive in toledo
I found ya again
Only true rail fans would watch this video every 4th of July.
I like the RACO and the WC Hayes bell..we have tons of those in Ann Arbor. There's even one crossing ive seen that has a teardrop bell..I've never seen any other that--do they not make them anymore?
Ann Arbor has three teardrop bells, one crossing has two. They stopped production in the 1960s.
I love trains😰😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Hey yo how many volts is the lights and bell
I like the teardrop bell sequence
how'd ya get the darn crossing gates
Really cool stuff.
I like all types of RR crossing bells, even the E bells, but the classic bells are the best!!!!!!!!
OMG Awesome US&S Teardrop.
I LOVE THE SAFETRAN BOLL! LOL!
I hear fireworks in the background this video but I do like railroad crossing signals I think they're so cool the whole town or city safe trains
where can you get these bells at besides ebay
i love the Griswold bell
you are missing the modern industries bell
And Safetran hybrid
that too
Jann Goldberg You're also missing a WRRS motor drive bell.
jeez, i wish i had those
Mighty Red Bird which one?? And why does he have 2 WRRS mini bells?? even i want one for my own 🚂🚂
Where did you find the wabco bell.
Fire works LOUD AS HECK
I never realized how cheap-sounding the Safetran Ms were.
How does the WABCO bell mechanism work?
Where Did You Get These Bells From?
Nice bells, what kind of paint did you use on them?
Why don't you try the bell on the crossings.
The video I posted as a response might have a WABCO bell. Do you know if it is one or not?
You must live in Centrelia, WA if it is this loud!
Vincent Complexev i live in Washington state too
Hey there...
How many different companies made crossing bells in North America ?
Griswold...
US&S...
Western...
Any others ?
Thanks !!
Belleville197 GRS, Bryant Zinc, safetran, General signals.
I LOVE fursuiters!
That's awesome! *Hugs*

Not sure if Union Switch & Signal is still around.. might have seen their logo on some new signals... Any bets??
I love trains

Enjoy it while it lasts

jtd321 it was a Western RailRoad Supply box🚂
The GS Type 2 E-Bell Is My Favorite Even Though Is Not Featured In This Video
WC Hayes baby. Sadly Electronic Bells are taking over.
Should have stringed all of them up, and rang them on New Years
the safetran and raco sound similar in this vid.
Why do the Safetran, RACO, and Griswold look so alike. You can tell its Safetran by the base. But the RACO and Griswold look so alike. How can you tell the difference?
Logo or other equipment at the crossing.
The RACO sounds more similar to the Safetran bell
it does because in wisconsin in oak creek when i go to oakwood rd when i see a train pass the signals have a safetran and when i go to ryan rd i see a raco bell and it does sound similar and the raco bell there at ryan rd sounds a bit unhealthy
I hear some fireworks! :D
I like the Hayes bell.
4:23 thats the northbrook bell!:D
Damn fireworks
I swear I saw a shooting star in the mini bell part
pluey200 i agree with you, but it was a firework that we saw
