Few places in the South have more mystique than South Carolina’s Lowcountry! And that’s probably why some many people are moving here! So what exactly is the low country and where is it located!
The Lowcountry is known just as much by its character as an exact spot on the map! Generally speaking, it’s the four counties: Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton and Hampton. However, most folks in Charleston claim to be in the Lowcountry so I’ll give them that!
And one of the most distinctive elements of the Lowcountry is the architecture! The key elements you will see outside are covered wrap-around porches where family and friends socialize, otherwise know as tellers term ‘ porching!’ Large double hung Windows with wooden shutters, tall front doors with transoms to let the natural light in, and you’ll see porch ceilings are often painted with Haint blue, a soft blue- green shade that SC Gullah people, who are descendants of the African slaves, believed would keep away evil spirits!
Inside the Lowcountry homes you will find spacious rooms with high ceilings, fans and an open floor plan perfect for large family and friends gatherings!

Thanks for watching! Deep water property has become a premium, if you don't mind being 20 minutes outside of town on St. Helena, you can find deep water with a dock just over $1ML. You can find something a bit less on "tidal creek" but then you have to watch the tides (8ft - 12ft tide swings) to ensure you can navigate the waterways. And a lot of people do this!

The lowcountry actually spans from Georgetown SC to Jacksonville FL. Not just Beaufort. Just had to clear that up.
