Great video Leila! I think it is very fun to be competitive with trying to get the best cash back for whatever category you're spending on as well. It excites me knowing I got 5% cash back for buying my groceries using a credit card versus a debit card where you don't get any rewards at all. Also get exciting when you get to redeem the cash, passive income like you say is awesome 😎
I currently have two credit cards. One I use for gas and bills. The other is used for groceries, misc, household items, etc. The rewards are about the same on both. My Sam’s Club card just does in store credit, so that is why I choose not to use that one as much whereas my Costco cards gives me a check every February. Credit cards are great when they are used responsibly. When you start carrying a balance from month to month that is when they become a problem. I have done one promotional card. Paid it off in six months and canceled it. That one didn’t hurt my credit score because there was not much history on it.
You can close a old credit card it stays on your credit history for five years. Removing a card can effect your credit via raising your utilization not your age.
I think it’s impressive that you have that many cards and are good at managing them. For me the temptation is too high so I keep only 1 (had 2 but closed one) which serves my purpose (points + cashback).
This is certainly motivating me to switch to my reward cards instead of my debit card. The temptation to use credit cards irresponsibly is not an issue.
You're definitely proof that you can use credit cards sensibly and make use of the benefits. I've had several credit cards and just stopped using them when the 0% interest stopped, oops.
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila Yeah you're probably right. Paying attention to cash back on credit cards seems to be a great way to get passive income, I'll bear that in mind for the future. Thanks for your knowledge. 😊
That was my first card, too with Barclays! It’s my oldest account and now my highest limit. It only grew that much since I used it so much for balance transfers and mistakes in the past 😳 Edit to add: had banana republic card first but closed it. Care Credit: promo over $200 starts at 6 months and the 0% promo time increases with more spent
I use to do this but I stopped back in 2019, I put my entire vacation on the Barclays jet blue card, I had 7000 saved for my vacation and spent 6,324 for the points. I came back to a surprise 2500 IRS bill, the brakes in my car had hit the floor, and my 17 year old son, who bares my name, had taken the Liberty to quit his job and use my Bank of America card to splurge on Uber eats/door dash and Xbox games… totaling over 4000. Then A month after returning from my vacation I needed surgery to remove a cyst on my throat 1500. Needless to say that is when I had what Dave Ramsey refers to my “OH CRAP” moment. My total Bank of America balance had ballooned to 9500. 4 years later I am still paying on my card because Bank of Americas “investigation” determined that the charges were legitimate. Play with snakes and you will get bit was the lesson learned.
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila Hi there, I’ve actually received multiple offers for various Upgrade cards. Other than the bonus, how do you like the card so far? I’m into credit cards myself. I currently have 22 active accounts. I’m feeling your channel and keep up the good work 😎✌🏾.
It's so fun learning whats in peoples wallets! When used correctly, credit cards can be such a nice wind at your back! Really nice walkthrough!
Thank you!
I have 9 credit cards and each serves a different purpose. One for gas, one for entertainment and dining, one for groceries, etc.
Love that! Credit cards are awesome

I remember my statement dates because I know after they pass I'll get my rewards 😂 It is super exciting!

This was a great video & thanks for that gift card tip @ the grocery store!!
Thank you! And yeah I just might end up buying $1500 in grocery gift cards next year 😂

Yeah it's definitely not for everyone! I'm glad you understand that about yourself though and are responsible!

Yeah I know you would be responsible with your spending and you would actually probably make more than I do!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I am definitely getting a new card next year when we move since I will get reimbursed and we will need a lot of things. Love this video!!!
Thanks Jani!!
Your voice is very soothing!
Thanks! 😊
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila you’re welcome! So how many cards do you have now since the video? Did you add any good ones?

Yess so exciting!!
Love this information, thank you.
Thanks Mia!
How do you see a list of all your credit cards and how long you’ve had them? Is that from a credit report?
Yes or you could use an app like Credit Karma
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila thank you!
I’m a person who gets easily bored & I found ur credit card strategies quite interesting 🤨
Cap 1 cancelled it's travel benefits, what are some good cards for travel(auto rental insurance for example)
I use Bank of America Cash Rewards to get 3% cashback in travel, but otherwise I believe Chase Sapphire Preffered has a huge travel bonus right now!
You didn't tell us which specific CapitalOne card you have, but from the 1.25 miles on each purchase, I'm guessing it's the VentureOne.
Yes that's the one! Sorry about that
I also have the Venture X card now and I love it!
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila Massive upgrade! What’s your favorite redemption?
@@DugrozReports I ended up using my cash back to cover a full 6 nights for our Airbnb in Costa Rica!

I wouldn't say oops! Lol
I know for some people it's not worth the effort/extra thing to remember so it can be easier to avoid credit cards!

Hi, question have you been able to still keep your care credit card open? If so do you put any spend on it?
That one closed after no use for awhile!
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila I'm sorry to hear that.
