    I really like your clear teaching style and the look of your abstract works of art. Thank you for sharing so many 'how to' videos for beginners like me and I am excited about trying out your tape idea. I also enjoy listening to your calm and very relaxing American accent. Regards from Down Under in Australia 😊

      Thanks, Jackie! The foul was a last minute decision, but I was happy with how it turned out.

    Very nice! The first horizontal orientation with the stripes at the bottom is my favorite. It has a very 3D look.

    Love how the gold foil shows through and the blue is a bit transparent. Great result! The 3rd and 4th orientations are my favorites. Thank you!

    Thank you for this inspiring video. What a fun way to get layers. I'm not sure what frog tape is in Swedish stores, but I will try and fine it. Ordinary maskin tape can be tricky. Love your videos for inspiration!

      Thank you so much, Ann! Frog tape is basically painter's tape for delicate surfaces - www.frogtape.com/products/delicate-surface-painters-tape-yellow-141-in-x-60-yd
      I bet you can find something similar. Cheers!

    Hi Chris, Love the idea of chocolate bar gold wrap... And I personally got totally excited by the underpainting. It had raw energy, but the final version had elegance. still love the "seascape" orientation. All versions seem to have more impact on youtube than on insta.😊😊😊

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Emmanuel! I've played with a few versions of this now and each background produces a unique result. I did a 36"x 48" version (my largest painting to date) and that turned out really well. As much fun as I had using that chocolate bar wrap, eating the chocolate was even better 🍫

    Frog tape in the UK is green. The one I used pulled all the paint off underneath. Wasn't happy.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry to hear that! We have the green here as well. I typically stay away from the green because it's considered "medium adhesion" so I was scared it would do what you described and remove some of the paint. The yellow, if you can get, is considered "light adhesion" tape. I've never had it remove any paint.

    Hi there! Great abstract work! Are there any particular mediums you mix with your acrylic paint that allow you to scrap and excavate the colors underneath, or do you only use water? Looked like you used a generous amount. I'm used to oil and cold wax, but need to find an alternative because of fumes. Thank you!

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Mimi! I just used water. I did put a layer of gesso down first so the water wouldn't' warp the paper too much. I use a lot of water when working on a canvas. The key for me is to wipe/scrape the paint away early on before it has time to dry.

    Really wonderful piece. Just for reference, if one was to use your approach to paint an abstract like this in the same scale and using similar techniques, and took under 30 min. to do so, how much could that piece go for?

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, Jerry! Oh, something like this I probably wouldn't do much more than $100 unless it was matted and framed. But that's me and I've been told I undervalue my pieces.
