This was the best launch to an album they have done, this song was released in about 6 parts with usb's left all around the world as a treasure hunt, clues were online for each one and fans figured them out to get the location which then released rhe next part of the song, loved being part of it
Also this whole album was based arpund george orwells 1984, eurasia being the continent in the book of europe and asia

This album pulls a lot from George Orwell’s 1984, and I read that book with this album on repeat and it’s incredible.

There's all kinds of books this song draws from. The point is though it's trying to be this positive song about us being divided by countries etc makes us war. We should all march under one banner, Eurasia. But then the war march comes in (the middle easterny bit) which reminds you that it's more war, occupation etc to reach this 'ideal'. Then in collateral damage it emphasises that with playing a very rural, quiet peaceful neighbourhood with children playing, followed by the noise of a fighter jet. It's basically saying that while the struggle for the politics is still there, the people getting their lives ruined and destroyed are the innocents who just want to work hard and grow old, and protect their kids.
It's a stark reminder that every invasion for peace kills thousands of innocents, and is globalisation even a good idea to be killing so many for?

live how this band emotionally attaches you to music that you would never have considered listening to if they had not performed it. They are so beautifully skilled and versatile. it's like music is their 1st language, performance their 2nd and their lyrics the sprinkle to the compliment the main flavour.

For some, masterpiece, others, Exhibit A on where Muse went off the rails. I like it quite a bit, but can see easily how people can think this is pretty pretentious. The outro is from a piece by Chopin I believe.
This is on The Resistance which contains some pretty recognizable muse-ish rock, but also this, straight up pop (undisclosed desires), a song with a funky groove that morphs into a ballad partly in french and returns via oboe solo (I Belong to you), and their own 3 part symphony (which is a masterpiece). So yeah, more than a bit experimental.

I can see that about The Resistance as an album, but I thought Eurasia was pretty conservative by Muse standards. No wacky instrumentation or arrangements, at least. Pretty bombastic but there was plenty of that on earlier albums (Megalomania, Apocalypse, Butterflies, Take a Bow, City of Delusion).

You are spot on with the influence. I believe there was an interview with Matt Bellamy where he said it was his musical love letter to Queen.

Just wanna say the reason it cuts off kinda suddenly at the end is cause it leads to the next song on the album, which I believe is guiding light

Far and away my favorite Muse song. From my favorite Muse album. I know it's considered a bit of a Latter-Day record to come onboard with but they are doing such an amazing job of making contemporary pop music that is lyrically and musically interesting. Off-the-wall chord voicings in that piano intro, and just the energy in the way that the interplay of drums and guitar make this bed of Dynamic tension. Not to mention let's be honest. John called it This song is a love letter to Queen. Even the phrase there can be only one is a reference to the Highlander soundtrack The Queen did
