I still dont understand how to fish. My fishing line never moves????? Why is it doing this? I lean towards the right and it moves at a snails pace. I havent caught a single fish in this game is it supposed to be impossible to do!?!?
Are you on Switch or PC? On PC, keep the left mouse button pressed while moving the mouse to reel in. Since you mention that it moves at snails pace - have you checked the "Fishing Cast Speed" setting? You can find it under Settings > Gameplay > and then at the bottom of that menu "Fishing Cast Speed". I have set my slider to the max 0.70. Have a look!

Great video! I was confused as I tried fishing immediately in the camping zone and there were no brackets appearing around the fish/lure. They only started appearing once I had left the camping zone where I put my first tent.
Thank you! Not seeing brackets is a bug currently, you should see brackets no matter where you fish. Relogging or zoning into a different area like you did can fix it! Good luck with your fishing adventures!
The fishing mechanic is ridiculous in this game, fishing in FFXV is so much simpler. Smoother, in facts in my time at Portia and Grow song of the ever tree is way better. It's kinda annoying, we shall see if I get any better. There is no indicator of where to turn my rod either.lol Thanks for video, hopefully we can figure it out.
It definitely takes a bit time to get used to it, but except for a few very rare fish, most are reeled in easily - you'll get the hang of it! Some people reported a bug where their fishing line isn't moving at all, if that's the case, then that's a problem.
Hi there, yes that should be correct. As in you must left click to hook the fish… but that won’t reel the fish in. In other words, you also need to hold the left-button after clicking as to reel in. Does that make sense?
If you have worms in your inventory, simply right click when you have your fishing rod equipped. This brings up a selection of bait (in this case the worms) you can choose to use. Same mechanic applies to arrows for the bow if you start using different types, simply right click and select which one you'd like to use. Hope that helps!
No reason to feel stupid. New game, new mechanics. We just didn't include Bait in this guide because it's not strictly needed when starting fishing and probably warrants a guide on its own. If there's anything you'd love to know, we're always open to feedback/suggestions!

Yes, it's exactly like that. You move the mouse while pressing the left button (and release briefly if the fish jumps). Can you confirm that you are seeing the brackets/reticle around the bobber when the fish bites? There currently is a bug where the brackets are invisible, which makes it almost impossible to fish - usually a relog or fishing at a different spot solves it.
@@Pixelcave I can see the reticles but when I physically move my mouse the line does not move with it. even when I move my mouse back and forth quickly it doesn't respond. I tried on the switch as well but have the same problem, no idea what I'm doing wrong :(

Hm, that's weird. The game was offline for a while due to some hotfixes, but it's up and running currently if you want to try again? Any chance you can deinstall the launcher and reinstall?

That Monday afternoon the launcher was starting without loading anything at all, you know when you start the launcher and files percentage appear counting, that wasn't happening, and then an error message was: file not found, close and restart! I got that error until yesterday, then another 3 different error messages were coming every other try to launch it, today the same, and then again, "file not found"! I checked their discord, even opened a tech ticket but got no luck so far! I also tried to uninstall, but there's no command for that, and I'm afraid of deleting the folder manually and loose progression or something else! I guess I can't blame a super duper prehistoric Pc for trying it! 🥺😆
Oh no - I really hope they look at your ticket soon and sort you out. And at least you have a pre-historic PC, better than none! Fingers crossed you'll be able to play soon! 😎
Ah, so the jumping fish needs you to loosen the line. Ok. I thought I was gonna have to use a rod health charm or upgrade to a tier 3 rod to catch this one.
It's a current bug that can happen. Often it helps to zone or relog, and sometimes it also only happens in some areas, but not others. Move to another spot and try to relog, that should usually fix it!

The same thing happens to me. I've been trying for 30 minutes but it moves at a snail's pace no matter what I do [I have a PC]

fishing is something im never gonna master, cuz the thing is within the thing, but i still loose the fish...

The green "brackets" are not there for me ever

It's a current bug that can happen. Often it helps to zone or relog, and sometimes it also only happens in some areas, but not others. Move to another spot and try to relog, that should usually fix it!

You have to stop reeling in when they jump, just continue following the bobber, but don't reel until they stop - otherwise the line might break.
