    So appreciate these videos! I have been searching for truth since age 19 when I had this really startling realization of Samasara and no self (ego). I was 19! I did not understand what happened! I changed to psychology thinking the answer was there, practiced and learned yoga, which seemed much closer, fell away, but was still searching. Finally, almost 50 years later, I have found Buddhism from Robina! This appears as the path that needs to be followed. Thank you so much!

    Venerable Robina is such an amazing teacher. I find it useful to listen to her lectures many times over, and interestingly I have new insights with each rehearing.

    THANKYOU. I find it helpful to talk to myself , as if I was exhaling to a friend these precious teachings ,,it works , Venrable ROBINA s words penetrate deep into our minds way beyond conceptual thoughts. Her words are essential for providing us with a map along the path ,,, we are what we think. Isn’t it wonderful xxx

    Am just discovering this teacher. This woman is SO learned& passionate..She could possibly seem a bit "rude" to some, but I prefer someone direct & intense than light smiley yet vague,or robotical.I've met with several teacher-Buddhist & others...Robina is very sharp,,but there is a real honesty, unpretentiousness here that I find very compelling.😉
    ps-She is full of cold,on this Scandinavian bit of a tour, yet remains unperturbed!

      Yes, I absolutely love her approach. She really knows her stuff and wants to share it with others. I can see how some people may get intimidated by her, but that's just because a lot of us aren't used to such direct, straight-to-the-point approach. The thing is (being a teacher myself) - you gotta keep it that way as a teacher if you want to really make your students think for themselves and get the basics down BEFORE they move on to more advanced levels. There's also a time limit for each session so you can't waste your precious seconds on fruitless, dead end discussions.

    I love it how straight to the point Robina is!

    Excellent teacher. Some misunderstanding caused by translation issues on the side of the students. Ven Robina has a fast and clear mind, and not everybody could keep up with that speed of thought. But in the end the audience has to come up to the teacher's level, and not vice versa. Very, very good teachings.

    I love how clear and straight to the point she's. There's just one thing about the vegan bit of the talk, there's this misconception that vegans have chosen to be annoying to others just for the sake of it. There's a lot going on with the consumption of animals products that is incomparable to bugs dying on a license plate, like climate change, food distribution (causing hunger to millions of people's), massive species extinction, chronic health issues, many things that can lead to people killing all life on this planet. I think even Buddhist teachers who where told about the impact of our consumption have opted for a vegan diet. I get how people think vegans don't know what they're talking about, I used to believe that. But when I looked into it, there was no way to unsee some truths so I veganized my lifestyle. I'll continue to listen to Robina's talks, I love her style. Hopefully one day someone tells her why many people are so concerned about animal products.

      You have missed her point about this. The motivation for veganism should be mainly compassion for the animals. Environment and health benefits are just a bonus. No need to be arrogent or political about these things. Just be the change you want to see in this world.

    A variety of views are coming together for me. How they're related or how the original meanings have been misinterpreted accidentally or on purpose. Animals ARE here for our benefit. To practice our compassion and humanity. To be generous to in a simple way. And now I begin to see the view of a "place" called Hell that some of us are going to. It's the journey downward. The deconstruction or blowing apart of this physical life and others back into a basic element like fire until Karma is finished according to natural cause and effect. We don't die in one life from human to hell fire; but slowly degenerate over lives/deaths to it. Unless others practice THEIR humanity on us and help trigger good Karmic seeds. We are all connected and man made references to time are almost meaningless.

      The mouse is probably thankful not being killed regardless of your motivation for not killing it...

      That's the first (Hinayana) phase. Step 1: stop harming others, step 2: learn how to benefit others 💗

    Robina Courtin: to your Scenario for a vegan: I would say no, since I believe they also do not deserve my guilt, like as Human's we must create boundaries with others such that they can not harm by mistake. We create boundaries in life not just to protect ourselves but to protect others from causing harm.

    Jesus,Mary and Joseph, do people think too much!!! (instead of purifying and listening with their ears and hearts and minds to their precious teacher that they have a privilege to be in the presence of!!)

    What is the karma of Robina's rudeness? Doesn't that hurt another to be spoken to that way?

    • @walterjoosten5750
      @walterjoosten5750 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That karma is surely positive. She is waking up people from being on automatic pilot and getting them to think about their actions and opinions. In other words: she is giving 'shock therapy'.

      Karma means 'intention', it's an intentional mental urge to do something. When it connects with a negative motivation, then a negative karmic imprint will be created. Venerable Robina is speaking from the place of compassion with a motivation of benefiting sentient beings. Her motivation is virtuous, so karma of what one might perceive as 'rudeness' will surely be a positive one. When we are hurt by the Buddha Dharma taught by a highly qualified and skillful Dharma master, this is our own karma accumulated in conjunction with self-grasping ignorance and self-centered attitude in previous lives ripens right there and now. That's a sign that we need a lot of purification of obstacles, including those making us hurt by wisdom and compassion of our teachers and their teachings.
