    Wow! The more and more I see Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at Coco Cay, the more I want to go on a ship just to go there. I am starting to love the Snack Shack vicariously through you guys! Definitely will try the Jay creation of the chicken sandwich with the mozzerella sticks and sauce. Thanks for taking us along! Onto episode 3!

    The things on the bottom are actually a type of jellyfish. We lived in The Keys for 3 years and they were all over the bottom of our canal out to the bay. Since they don't have long tentacles they don't really sting.

    The little Biggie was a Lane snapper and the Big biggie with the spot was a Mutton snapper! The fast fish that zipped by and tried to eat the little minnow on the top of the water was a Bar Jack. All are very good eating. I even saw a yellowtail snapper there for a minute.

    • @simonebennett6407
      @simonebennett6407 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@parodeejay I was just about to post a new comment about this as I just saw this video. We always call them "Upside Down Jellyfish", but the proper name is Cassiopea Jellyfish (not spelled or pronounced like the Greek mythological Queen, Cassiopeia) Jellyfish. They are the only type of jellyfish in the "Cassiopeidae" family of jellyfish. It's rather cool! We've only seen them a few times and you saw many more of those on that beach at Coco Cay then I've ever seen at one time! The cool thing about these jellyfish is that they literally live in a symbiotic relationship with a creature that uses photo-synthesis (which provides energy for both the symbiote and the jellyfish) which is a type of dinoflagellate. That's why when you see them they will be in shallow water and why except for traveling from place to place, they will literally lay upside-down on the shallow ocean floor to absorb sunlight that fuels the photosynthesis of the dinoflagellate which then provides energy for the Cassiopea jellyfish!
      Jellyfish Danger aside: By the way, they aren't as dangerous as like the various type of jellyfish with long tentacles, like the sea wasp (the most common kind of jellyfish you see in the Caribbean that is dangerous), but if you get too close to them, those short little stubby tentacles (they have a different name I can't remember) you can be stung by them even though the sting isn't as strong as those other kinds of jellyfish. That is because they are primarily living off the energy from the photosynthesis of their symbiotes, but they still have the same chemical in them (just to a lesser amount) then the jellyfish that can sting your really badly and that many people are highly sensitive to. So just be careful when you are swimming or walking around the area where they are since they stay in such shallow waters.

    We just came off the Odyssey on 12/18/21 from a six day cruise & it was very good but disappointing in
    some areas! For example, for a brand new ship, it had no adult water slides, no ice skating nor water shows,
    no comedy club & some of their shows, i.e. a so-called illusionist, Jason Bishop, did nothing but simple card
    tricks! We only had about 3000 on board but couldn't utilize most of the included attractions because they were
    fully booked! Co Co Cay was great but the central water rides charged an outrageous $99. per person fee!
    All in all, we got our money's worth because we didn't overspend on expensive drink packages or high tour fees!
    As seniors, we can see that RCCL is now gearing their shows, tours & other on board entertainment to
    a much younger audience!

    Im glad you had a good experience. We were at Coco Cay on thu 10/28 with two ships visiting. Like you, we had a late start. We got to South Beach at 1100a and every lounge chair was taken. We walked to the next beach only to be told it was crew only. Then walked to the Oasis pool and you guessed it...not one lounge chair available. We took a dip then went back to the ship. honestly, it felt like Disney World on a Saturday. I'll pass if there is a next time and stay on the ship! @@Odelay77 that's because all those you Tube videos were shot back in September or early October when ships were sailing with 30% capacity and only 1 ship was at Coco Cay. The island was empty and the You Tuber raved how great it was. Now ships are approaching full capacity and two ships a day visit the private island. But don't let my experience sway you.
