Rare video of old Konkani song broadcasted on Doordarshan in the 80s.
Henry D'souza (also known as Sangeet Samraat) is a famous Konkani music composer and singer with super hit songs like Ye Ye Cathrina and Ami dogi Sezara. With more than 2000 songs and 200 musical nights, he is a household name in the world of Konkani music. Ye Ye Cathrina has been translated to many other languages.
Aparna Mayekar is a multi-lingual singer who has sung many Konkani songs as well.

This song was recorded by my Dad in the year 1988. At that time Doordarshan used to broadcast such rare Konkani songs, films. These two in the video are the actual playback singers. Back then the concept of Music videos was not yet developed. Hence, crude acting and lip-syncing by these artists. Pardon the clarity, I tried my best to covert this from VHS to digital. This is all I could manage. Enjoy!

What a lovely song. It brought back memories of my childhood and my mother who worked in the Konkani section of All India Radio Mumbai. She knew Henry D'Souza well and he gifted her a cassette of his then latest album with incredibly catchy songs like 'Lonchem', 'Bombai sheher', 'Disco disco', 'Phoolwali', 'Alice Bai', etc.
