  • Disney is closing 18 of its cable channels in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong from October. The company said the move is part of a global pivot, as it continues to grow its streaming services and move towards a direct-to-consumer-first model. The media giant declined to comment on how many staff will be affected, but CNA understands it could be more than 200.

Im so disappointed with DISNEY. You don’t know how much it affects us fans here in the philippines. The only reason why i have cable TV because of your channels especially FOX LIFE. we don’t have DISNEY+ yet here and there is no news that we will be having yet. I hope you succeed with your strategies.

I would use Disney+ but don't force people to it by shutting down cable TV. Cable is still popular in Asia and low-income families depend on it for entertainment. With this our cable subscription has become pretty much useless as the only time it's used is watching 80% Disney affiliate channels primarily Fox, Fox Movies, Fox Sports, and National Geographic. HBO out there having their own subscription service but they didn't shut down lmao.
