- Basin Street Blues - Ella Fitzgerald It's hard to believe it sounds that good, being recorded in 1949 ; -)
I'm using Adobe Express video editor to make videos now. It's kind of fun to try to come up with pictures that will fit well in to the video. Please let me know what you think. I'm open for suggestions...
Geno, I'm headed to Decfest this weekend to listen to the Headwreckers with the PT-10 before I build them. My Zen amp should be ready in Jan./Feb. and then I'll be in hi-fi heaven! Love your setup.
Hey David. I’m so jealous! Would love to be able to go. The PT-10’s are fantastic drivers, and I know that they have to be unbelievable in Steve’s enclosures. Please keep me posted on how they sound, as well as your progress on building yours. Best, Geno
Thanks for uploading these sample tracks! I'm considering buying the Liionidas Extreme with the same driver configuration, so I would love your review. I'm pitting them against the Wharfedale Lintons and the MoFi Sourcepoint 10s, so your impressions would be valuable.
Highly recommended!!! But this is bi-amped. No crossover. Crown sub amp.
@@GVernon Got it. They come with a factory crossover so I'm planning to run them with a dual mono amp (800W at 2.5 ohms). I'm hoping they shine. Thanks for your input!
Congrats on a great sound with those SE84UFO monoblocks! Are you still biamping to drive the W15s with a Crown? If so, how are you splitting the source signal to route to the Zens and the Crown? Y-cable, Mini-dsp, something else...?
Geno, So you're running the Pt-10 wide open? You don't feel the need for a super tweeter? How are you attenuating eh Pt-10?
Hi Geno, I just received my Decware amp and now I'm looking for speakers. This configuration of yours might be solution. Can you tell me if you're using a preamp? How do you control the Crown amplifier? Thanks
Hi Tombstone. I have a DAC/Streamer that I am using as a preamp - DAC rca outputs to the Crown rca inputs. That is the easy to understand way. Another way, without a separate preamp, is to have two single pieces of 16 gauge wire with a resistor soldered to the positive pin of an RCA plug on one end, and the opposite end is just bare wire, connected to each positive speaker tap. One of these cables for L and R channels. So for each side, main amp positive speaker terminal, you end up with your main speaker wire, and the special cable connected. The resistor is an Ohmite 600 ohm, 1W, 1%. Got them on eBay.
When this was first explained to me, I was very confused. Not as hard as it sounds. I’m here if you need any other help.
What is the room treatment you have? And do you notice a difference with them there?
The diffusers were made by Pi Audio Group. piaudiogroup.com I’m not sure if they are still making them. I also have two, 4” thick absorption panels (ATS Acoustics). My room was absolutely terrible to start with, with no treatment. I’ve never heard a more live room! It took diffusion on the side walls and ceiling. My listening position is close to the rear wall, so absorption was needed there - plus I have a long window on same wall, so heavy curtains were needed to cover that. I used a combination of clapping and shouting to test the results. Once the echo got down to a minimal level, I started listening to music to further check the result. Pretty good now.
So u think platinum 10 better the crystal 10 ?
I loved the Crystals, but the Platinums are much better!
