With the grand canyon, you may get more value out of it by settling two cities that share it to get all the flat tile bonuses, which would be a cool setup
replying to myself with a question: it seems the culture bombing has affected how we make cities. I haven't seen the ability to assign tiles to other cities in range
Correct, no ability to reassign tiles to new cities, you'd have to very intentionally leave remaining tiles!
The Cities only grow as far as citizens can work, so leave 2 tiles between the wonder and the City Center for optimal placement.
Thank you for this comment - I managed to get 3 cities benefiting from Grand Canyon in my latest Isabella game and it has been CRAZY beneficial for me, and I never would have thought about it otherwise!
1:44 Classic civ: "this primitive village has gifted you a Main Battle Tank (ancient era edition)"
Dude how wild was that trade?! What a great deal haha
Another tip for Isabella is that you should aim for three naval trade routes in the antiquity age so that you can get mahapajit in the exploration age, which gets a default of plus two happiness per natural wonder tile as a civilization ability.
Great vid! Since I plan to jump on Isabella start ASAP, this is most useful and encouraging!
Having played some, it turns out the Field of Flowers can get boosted by volcanic eruptions as it spawns next to a volcano. I was able to get up to 36 yield on a single tile of flowers in the Exploration Age. 14 food, 2 production, 4 gold, 4 science, 6 culture and 6 happiness. These yields however reset every age transition. I forget how high it got in the antiquity age.
I’m surprised they gave her such a garuntee natural wonder bias at the start. I LOVE it !
Redwood Forest and Grand Canyon can be nuts if it's possible to space out your settlements such that three (or possibly four for the canyon) each grab one tile and then benefit from the bonus yields to their other tiles.
As soon as they announced Isabella and her abilities I knew I’d start with an Isabella game. This will be very handy in a few hours, thanks!
I have watched just about every Civ VII vid out here. Yep..by now, there are a LOT. Nice being fully retired. Anyway, I found THE most value of any single video in this one. Thanks a lot. My game version unlocks on the 11th, and Isabella (or Ben Franklin), looks to be choice one.
I wasn't sure what leader I wanted to play first, but Isabella definitely seems like the one I want. Thanks for the video Drongo!
Great video, can't wait to pick this gane up to stream. Been wondering who to play first and thanks to this video I know a great place to start to learn some of the new stuff, thanks mate!
First game with Isabella and did a conquest game and I focused on other civ cities with natural wonders and then afterwards moved on a wolrd dom in the modern era. Definitely a interesting leader.
Keep up the good work bro, love from newy
I'm really enjoying playing as Confucius but this video is making me want to try out Isabella. She did seem interesting when I was looking through all the leaders.
Just FYI, I didn't see anyone else mention this. Isabella is currently bugged for most people. She doesn't give gold for discovering new Natural Wonders after the one your founder finds (if any) right at the start. My impression is either the day one patch broke her or review copies don't have the issue, only early access copies. I'm sure it'll get patched soon but not at the moment.
No that’s definitely an issue I noticed too
Redwood forest on its way to off themselves after realising they’re a disappointment to their family after only getting s rank. I found it so funny how you had to basically apologise for putting them so low
I love this channel !!!🎉
I played my first Isabella game. 0 wonders in the old world. I scouted the entire land+ocean
Does Valley of Flowers always spawn between mountains? If so then it's much worse. Not only are you losing space, but those are exactly the tiles you want to put nat-wonder-adjacency buildings on.
No, sometimes it spawns with no mountains
Then again, at least in the current build when they are next to volcanoes, Isabella gets double of the extra volcano yields as well, and valley of flowers can be modified by volcanoes.
Do the "per age" yields also get doubled or are they just added on top of the base yields?
Not a single Isabella start from me Had a Natural wonder 😒
Wow, how many times did you re roll for this video? Because I don't see there is any map editor right now. I admire the commitment!
100x rerolls to test likelihood of each wonder
I'm think of pairing Isabella with China, so I can turtle around these natural wonders with The Great Wall. Unclear to me if the Great Wall has adjacencies bonuses with Natural Wonders though.
Unfortunately no adjacencies for it, but I like the idea of Han with Isabella! Chu-Ko-Nu + Great Wall combo is deadly on defense!
Your voice is low and comfortable to sleep on while watching
Does Isabella+Torres Del Paine give you the extra food and happiness in future ages? IE do you get an extra 4 food and 8 happiness per age?
Very cool video idea! just out of curiosity, how many times in your 100 setups did you find no natural wonders in range of your first city and in those games did you find a natural wonder close by? Thanks!
So I ran every setup with the scout with LOS, 18 out of 100 spawns no wonder.
Man, I must have shit luck already haha 😂 I started my first game as Isabella, no natural wonder within ten tiles of the capital. Restarted. Got Iguazu Falls and that’s it, if there is a single other natural wonder in the homelands I can’t find it…. I feel gypped 😂
HAHA! That luck tho! I only had it once in 100 rolls, so buy a powerball ticket ;)
The video is gorgeous because of RTX HDR.
Please, can you tell me if HDR is available for the game?
Do the seeds work on console or just PC?
Six more turn
How often do you get 0 wonders?
18% of games
Can you have two cities on the Grand Canyon thus getting bonus science for two cities?
I suspect you can, but I haven’t tested it.
what do you think are her best civs?
Aksum definitely is best.
So Isabella gains additional yields after tapping rural district on it? Could other's do this? Are they obtain smaller amount or what?
Anyone can get the base yields by putting a pop on a wonder tile.
Isabella’s bonus doesn’t effect the rural districts next to it, just the natural wonder itself
Is this Aussie Drongo?
g'day fellas :)
How hard they make her?
Could have gone with many a word, but it's been fixed now, thanks!
Does the AIs have access to momentos as well
I don't think so, I would consider them a little bit cheap to use if that is the case.
7:47 YOU GOT FERTILITY RITES???
It was against scribe AI for showcasing the wonder haha
All Natural Wonders should only give happiness and Money. You cant really use the land in reality other than through tourism.
Uhhh spawning next to one sounds completely broken lolwtf. It basically guarantees she has the best starting city on the map.
On the other hand, it means you're not getting the benefits of Isabella from other cities unless they're next to a natural wonder, where other leaders have bonuses that apply to the entire empire.
@@aekiel5990 Early game bonuses > lategame. The reason is you get the benefit longer and they snowball harder. Isabella getting a buttload of food for the capitol, for example, means being able to support more cities earlier, which itself will allow those cities to grow faster than competitors. The only "downside" to her bonus is you can't rely on getting a natural wonder you want, so you need to be flexible with adapting to the one you get. ALL of them are double the resources anyone else can get at a minimum, though, and that on turn 1.
@@aekiel5990 But having the strongest capital in the majority of games will probably set you up for the win in most cases.
@@bigfudge2031 True, I'm not saying it's a bad ability by any means. Just that it's not automatically the most powerful.
@@Longknife Very fair, though I'd counter that it's not the late game where other leaders begin to catch up. A wide empire with a leader that synergises well with that play style should be able to catch up by the end of the antiquity age.
If not, then Isabella may be a bit too powerful.
