I began to listen 'seriously' to trumpet in the late sixties, via various prog/jazz/fusion groups. Gradually, I grew to realize that the trumpet is not only a powerful driving force, a jazz 'weapon' and fighter, but also a singularly sweet and gentle instrument. This is a lovely performance.
Departing, the sacred and familiar harbour diminsihes as the comfort of daylight fades in the face of awakening winds that stir a latent sea into perpetual waves of mounting uncertainty, yet the doughty sailor's resilient heart is stirred by the unerring call of a seabird companion, lifted above and beyond the inevitable fate that he knows will overtake him, if not today then......
Hi Hannah - thank you for the kind words! All I did was buy the piano score, transposed off of the top line, and chose what parts I wanted to play. Hope that helps!

Thank you Matthew Onstad for this beautiful verson of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Farewell to Stromness
Beautifully played, 🎺🎶🎹. A very sympathetic pairing.
Truly, truly lovely. What an elegant pairing of piano with trumpet!
🎺👍 You have a beautiful tone in your trumpet! I wish I could play like that.
Your trumpet playing is a beautiful version to PMD's piece. Love seeing things from my Alma mater.
So beautiful. Thank you.
This is so so beautiful thank you guys x
Well done.
Well done! Great control. Very nice sound through the delicate pianissimo phrases. Ever thought of flugelhorn for this instead of the Bb?
Definitely! Next time it’s on a recital program :)
