When the party Is over Is a difficult song to sing. Actually most of her songs. Cause you gotta be extremely gentle with your voice and how to control the air. It's not as easy as it seems

I have a four octave range and never sing her songs because she’s SO quiet in her falsetto. That is hard to do. I belt my high notes, which is what most artists do, they give people that “oh wow” reaction but it’s not all that hard in actuality. Staying soft and still hitting those notes takes HELLA breath support and vocal control. So what she does is definitely not common.
It's actually not so healthy to sing in such an airy (whisper-like) falsetto for extended periods of time. Technique-wise, you're probably utilizing better/healthier technique...

Thank you! I see so many comments in her videos criticizing her singing abilities and claiming it is easy to sing how she does, when in fact, staying in pitch is super hard with her technique. We are just too used of great singets mostly showing their "grand" belted vocals
I have no control when I try to sing softly. My choir teacher spent years trying to get me to grasp piano/mezzo piano to no avail.

She also mentioned that people who claim they're 'bad' or amazing, really aren't, because the 'bad' people don't feel the need to boast about it. So the song can be interpreted in the sense of someone who's claiming they're bad and could do so many things when in reality they're not as cool as they declare.

I’m 64, and love Billie! The first song I heard was “idon’twanttobeyouanymore”. Brilliant. Listen to “You Should See Me in a Crown”, and “Bury a Friend” if you get the chance.
I introduced her music to my 16 yr old. We can listen to her songs over and over, and not get bored.
Same here, I introduced my daughter to her and we went to her live last summer.

Yes!!! I love that her music speaks to such a wide range of people and age groups. Im 41 and my daughter is 20, we listen to her music over and over together. I think her vocal range is out of this world! I also love that her brother and her work together. Awesome all the way around.
I think it's cool she wears big baggy clothes. It's to prevent being sexualized, as she is underage. A lot of young girls look up to her. She said when she turns 18 soon she may start wearing more fitted clothing.

two octaves is pretty common for a voice to have, BUT a song with 2 octaves is pretty hard to sing, especially one that goes very low too

2 octaves is not common in 1 song you’re right. But it’s not hard to sing. It’s very easy to sing if u have a large range.
With respect to your octave comment. Keep in mind that there is a MASSIVE difference between having a 4 octave vocal range and singing one song that requires you to sing in ALL four octaves at some point.
Billie recently was on James COrden's show when Alicia Keys was hosting and they played a video of her at age 12 singing Alicia Keys' Fallin at a talent show. Which lets us know that she can CLEARLY belt and do vocal acrobatics. The type of personal songs that they are currently writing don't call for belting or vocal acrobatics.
Billie said "Bad Guy" was more about making fun of guys who think they are "criminal", or gangsta. She said if they are going to act like they are bad ass, then she is going to be a bad guy too (satire. she isn't serious at all).

Really love both songs, and I’m a Singer she has a power voice because otherwise she wouldn’t be able to sing like that. It takes a scary amount of control . It’s a really is a choice but must singers wouldn’t dare. Not even the powervoices. I admire her so much for going up on that stage being so vulnerable and taking those vocal risks.

I love that you say “Bad Guys” makes you feel uncomfortable, IT IS SUPPOSED TO! Think about these lyrics through her brothers eyes and her eyes. Young, impressionable, vulnerable...older men interact with you the way they see fit for themselves. This is a ballet taking back freedom for the actions that someone takes against you that are horribly out of your control.

The number of octaves she can sing is 5. It's not that she has to have the ability to sing 2 octaves. It's that she has to fluctuate between the two octaves the entire song. That's extremely difficult and this was early am when she was sick after a show the night before. Listen to that studio set. 🖤

Songs saying "I'm a bad girl" usually feel diminutive to me, like a bad child, naughty but sexualized, but a Bad GUY can be powerful, evil, dangerous. It's great how she takes the "strong male" badness and makes it about seduction without weakness. My opinion. Love your channel in DC!
