@@DirectAutoOutlet I have a question? There's a button and an off/on toggle switch underneath the driver's side just left of the brake. I know what the button is for but can you tell me what the switch is for?
Rizz I just bought my 2003 XR with the same situation. Garage kept car for 20 years and is very nice, like a brand new car less than 16,000 miles on it. White with grey interior and 17 inch alloy wheels. CD player no cassette. I'm really loving the car so far. I'm not pulling your leg on the mileage. It was driven less than 800 miles a year. That's why I watched this video to see what other people thought before buying it from a private party. I did put new tires on it just to be safe. The battery is dated March of 2015 so I will have to replace it soon so I don't get stranded. Still starts the car just fine.
This car is not for everyone but if you can deal with the vibration on idle, road noice outside and basic maintenance it's a good commute car still driving mine has at least 300k plus miles starts rite up with no issues engine will not die
Vibration on idle is due to collapsed motor mounts. It is a fairly inexpensive fix that most people don't have performed. This shouldn't cost more than $300-$400 to have done. Hope you enjoy your Matrix!
I'd like to change the color of mine to this exact same color. Please, I need help with the correct color code. Thank you so much in advance @DirectAutoOutlet
@@dylanbarger9044 it’s completely normal for an engine of this mileage. Toyota uses shims instead of lifters for this 1.8L Matrix engine, to me it looks like this could use new motor mounts & then it could be not that bad of a car. I’ve seen these things go 6,7,800,000 kilometres with just regular maintenance. In order to achieve that, NEVER be heavy footed & maintenance is very strict.
@Dylan Barger theoretically your supposed to adjust the shims at 200,000 kilometres, but I’ve seen them with 450-500,000 km & they haven’t been touched by anybody. They would make a fair bit of clacking, but they would still run fine. Excellent engines. I have a 2006 Matrix 240,000 kilometres (150,000 miles) & it is an amazing vehicle. Manual windows, locks, & mirrors, less to go wrong, sure, it makes a bit of the shim noise like you mention, but I’ll just live with it & take excellent care of it. When you have a 15+ year old vehicle, there are little issues that you live with.
@Craig Bennington Toyota uses stainless steel shims for this engine, when they get higher mileage on them they make noise, theoretically you’re supposed to adjust them every 150K miles or so, but I’ve seen them 300K miles untouched, still run fine. People always think “Oh it needs a new motor blah blah blah”, start simple & work your way up! Don’t jump to conclusions about major things first. You may just need to adjust the shims & your good. Keep clean oil in these engines, I’ve seen them go 500K miles, however don’t drive like a reckless teenager or you’ll wear the rest of the vehicle out first.
They need to bring this car back into production!
They have, it’s called the Corolla Hatchback.
I just bought the exact same car with 28,000 miles. Garage kept. I love it. It's like driving a brand new car.
Congrats! They are amazing vehicles
Shocked. Take good care of it and it might outlive you!

@@DirectAutoOutlet thanks for info 👍
Yes!
My car would do the same while in idle and once I changed the motor mounts, I can’t tell if the car is turned on or not (seriously)
It gets great MPG!
What? 30 mpg is great?
@@filoIII 30mpg is great for awd. The normal version gets 37 highway 32 city if you tip tap the gas

Two words dude. Wind seen!!!
We should get a new RB and let TAA do his thing in midfield. Otherwise, we will keep conceding goals.

@@dylanbarger9044 I agree , some light ticking is normal in this engine, but not that knock, I heard it too
