  • This short details the cyanotype printing process, which is an analog contact printing process dating back to the 1800s. In fact, it's where the term blueprint comes from.
My name is Paris and I'm a photographer that loves analog processes, whether its analog photography or analog printing or any involved, tangible photographic process. This is a visual short I made in my house on Cyanotype printing, which is an alternative photographic process. Cyanotype is the cheapest alternative process and an easy bridge. My ultimate goal is Platinum Palladium Printing which I touch on at the end of the video.

Beautiful. I'm just starting out on my cyanotype adventure - using my negatives. Love the processes and the outcomes

Nice effort, man. You should check out kallitypes as a cheaper alternative to platinum/palladium printing. The results are very similar to the more expensive processes if you tone your kallitype print in a platinum, palladium, or other noble metal solution. Have fun!

May I ask a question if you don't mind ? What kinds of the LED you used? Is that a UV LED or some special frequency?

Thanks for the video! If you don't mind my asking, what are the chemicals you're adding at 5:58 and 6:14 respectively? Also, did you make your contact printing frame?

Washing soda and Tanic acid! Although I find I’m not a fan of the tanic acid look. Black tea is probably my favorite dye and then coffee. I did not make my contact printer, I believe it was $115 off BH, photographers formulary brand or something it’s great quality.

@@parispijuan8259 Many thanks! Is the final print shown at 7:08 tanic acid or black tea? It looks great, either way. What paper were you using?

@@TPToE no problem! In the video the final prints are with tanic acid toner. I use a variety of heavy weight (~270 gsm) watercolor or cartridge paper. Can’t remember the exact brand for this video. Hope you’re go well!
