This scene perfectly illustrates Scott turning into Santa by his personality. It also shows how this movie came from a different era compared to the second and third films. Don't get me wrong, I liked the second one but was never crazy about the third. This is by far my favorite though and it has so much nostalgia for me since I always watched it as a kid. I still watch it every year around Christmas time!

The Santa Claus brand, a symbol of happiness for children suddenly being attached to a Tank which has a deadly gun on it for what reason? Who is Santa going to shoot on Christmas? the naughty children? what a message! /s. Good thing Tim Allen set them straight lol.
Beats me, but I build one every year in the yard for the last 10 or so years. Except I have 2 inflatable reindeer on the engine deck, the tank is painted in a Christmas camo pattern, and the canon is labeled as an Express Present Delivery System down the side of it. Now you may be right in any other situation, but this tank shoots nothing but toys and happiness. Well if it were real. Probably add a Anti-Grinch rocket launcher defense system next year. Never can be to careful with that green bugger. We will meet him on an equal battlefield and bombard him with presents and good cheer until he submits! And if that doesn't work, we load the fruitcake rounds! Now this may be a international treaty violation, Ill grant you that. But we are fighting off the Grinch after all, all's fair in this fight. All a matter of perspective how we look at these things, plus the kids in the neighborhood love helping repaint the tank every year.
