Best metal band out there. I'm 61 and I'm an old school metalhead. Was never into this kind of music until I heard Crypta. Because of them I'm discovering many amazing bands. Thanks Crypta!
Crypta is a very unique and interesting band, as while beeing creative and innovative, at the same time they often carry that flavour of the 90's Death metal and mix it with subtle ingredients of Thrash and Black metal and even some 'nutrients' of bands like Morbid Angel, Dismember or Death, and assemble all that with their own personality in a very, very tasteful way.
I really love Fernanda's (the vocalist) vocals. They've got a lot of character to them. Her highs sound super distinct, and her lows can be surprisingly cavernous. Not sure if you're aware, but she used to be in Nervosa, which had a sound of equal parts thrash and super Death-influenced death metal. Quite good, but she was canned by the guitarist, Prika Amaral, who also just kicked Fernanda's replacement and is now doing vocals herself. Crypta is Fernanda's new project. They released their first album "Echoes of the Soul" a few years ago, which was excellent. This sounds even better. I love the variety.
I told her over and over; Valerian steel, you gotta use Valerian steel! As I have said before, I am mostly lyrics guy, and these were really good. based on how I read it (mostly due to the line "Underneath my wounded past - I rise") they seem to be going with some type of rebirth after failure.
Finally a channel that reviews music without all the interruptions, also badass shirt and posters dude. Side note - Crypta is killing it right now. Some of the best content I've heard in year's. Fucking Disgusting with it.
Dark Night of The Soul is my favorite song off their first album, Echoes of The Soul. Some other good ones- Starvation and Kali are some of the faster tunes and Under The Black Wings is grindy and heavy.
