Brand New Restaurant! Dinner at Onda & Kinky Boots - Norwegian Encore Inaugural Cruise

- We had an absolutely amazing meal at the brand new restaurant on Norwegian Cruise Line, Onda by Scarpetta. This venue is replacing La Cucina and will eventually be fleet wide but we were lucky to be some of the first to try it out on the new Encore. Let me just say, this is hands down the best bread service I have ever had in my life... and the reat of the meal was just was good. If you have the chance to eat here, DO IT!!! After dinner it was off to the theater for Kinky Boots. This show made me laugh and smile for over an hour! And those costumes... well you will just have to watch to see what we mean!

I haven’t been able to watch in a while because of holidays and work. But dudeeeee, Jason got a haircut!???!! Time to binge watch these videos again😂🤙🏽

No!! Last Vlog ): The food at Onda looked AMAZING. My mouth would be watering if I didn’t watch this video during lunch time. Also that was a picturesque view of the ocean. The timing of the people on that show was like broadway. Overall I am convinced to try the Encore now. Great video as always and Happy Cruising to you both!

That burrata salad reminds me of the ones I had in Italy. My mouth is so watering right now. Meat and meat is the way to go!
That’s my favorite.. I make it’s with different colors of tomatoes, and we like sliced red onion rings and that burratta cheese, fresh basil and a good, thick, sweet & tart aged balsamic vinegar is one of the BEST things ever
Great video. I'm so sad Kinky Boots isn't on encore anymore. This made me decide to go to Onda on my next trip. But Burrata isn't butter- it is a mozzarella cheese!

That salad is called "the burrata" because it features my favorite cheese burrata. What it is is a mozzarella shell filled with creamy ricotta cheese. The ricotta is a more simple and creamy form of the mozzarella cheese. Burrata balls are my favorite and I always look for them. They're hard to find, but Kroger usually has them in the gourmet cheese isle and whole foods and fresh market have them 99 percent of the time. If you put a sliced beef steak tomato with fresh basil, a burrata ball, olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar, sprinkle of good sea salt and a glass of that chilled white wine you like... it's divine :-)
I could have that salad for lunch or dinner every single day joyfully.

La Cucina always looked so amazing, but Onda….wow!! I wouldn't have thought about eating steak at an Italian restaurant, but that looked so good! And you can never go wrong Pizza Margharita. "Kinky Boots" looks like a lot of fun, too. Hopefully, you'll be able to do a full week on the Encore in the near future.

I agree with Splint. I would be interested in your opinion of the 2 cruise lines. I have been on 2 different ones and for my family I like NCL I feel it is more casual atmosphere.

It's called Gaff. Some dancers calls it T-bar. It is also associated with duct tape and ice cube. I know. I use to work in the French Quarter.
Onda looks a lot better than La Cucina, which is my least favorite restaurant on NCL. So I am excited to try some new Italian food on the Encore. Kinky Boots definitely looks different, but if it is like other NCL shows than I imagine it will be amazing!

I’d also be interested in another Carnival v NCL video. I went w/NCL so far b/c my fam will NOT be told what to wear on vacation nor what time we have to eat. But I’m curious - eventually maybe I can convince them the other lines are also pretty casual??

Onda is by far my favorite restaurant on NCL. I ate there twice on my last cruise. I sat outside as well at two of the specialty restaurants. The polenta and mushroom appetizer was incredible. I have never been to Italy but I imagine this is what "real" Italian food tastes like.Love the outside seating!!
The Difference Between Mozzarella and Burrata. Fresh mozzarella cheese is a semi-soft Italian cheese made from cow or water buffalo milk. Burrata cheese takes the mozzarella one step further - it's mozzarella that's formed into a pouch and then filled with soft, stringy curd and cream. Grandparents were from Sicily and was fortunate enough to have grown up with authentic Italian cuisine. Looks like Onda is a step up from La Cucina. Continued health happiness and prosperity for your family and you in the New Year. Now let's hope LSU finishes off a dream season by winning the national championship!

I don't know if they say this or not in regards to the show but it was based on a true story.
Someday I'll have to post a photo of myself over on Facebook wearing my "kinky boots". Not a drag performer myself (I'm female) and my spike heel boot days are over but I still have a few thigh high boots with the with block heels that provide balance so I can go dancing. And not all are thigh highs either.
I know Alisa collects socks and I have a collection of thigh high socks to go with my boots. Um, I'm not telling you how big that collection is...LOL (Of the socks or the boots. Hahaha)

Haha haha Elisa!!! When you guys get home PLEASE find a drag show to go to!!! So many straight people have no clue what they’re missing!! It’s where you can go for cheap to see an awesome, FUN, FUNNY drag show!! The audience nor entertainers will treat you any different & you don’t have to worry about being hit on! That’s been the concern of a bunch of my straight friends. They’ve found out it didn’t happen & they had the best time there! I came out when I was 15 & started sneaking into gay discos when I was 16 (in 1984) to dance & see drag shows! Elisa, if you have questions about HOW they get ready I can answer- a friend of mine was a hot guy stripper & I would join him backstage & the drag queens would let me watch how they got ready. YES, most of them were uncomfortable having to TUCK & dress in drag but they get used to it for a performance or a few. 😁☮️🏳️🌈
So I guess Onda is a replacement for La Cucina? I was bummed at first after finding out no Cucina, but Onda will do just fine.
When I saw Kinky Boots NCL was adamant that recording the show was not permitted. Another time on NCL I saw the guys in the booth use a laser pointer to single out people recording the show. They were promptly visited by a staff member.
Looks great but NCL always assume that everyone wants loud music!

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. This one was considered a preview an so there was no charge for us.
That glass of wine. Why don’t they pour one like you would pour at home. At least 12-14 oz!!

That was music that Onda the Restaurant was pipping in and we completely agree with you! We didn’t realize thar before we got sat there! As beautiful as it is outside on the waterfront we probably wont sit out there again because its to hard to vlog with that music in the background! 🤷♂️
