I haven’t read the books yet but even from watching the show I knew in the first scene she was in that she’d be my favourite. Who doesn’t love a beautiful, powerful woman with a tragic backstory and a raw human desire to be loved? It speaks to anyone with a soul.
I must say that, personally, I prefere Yen from books, as in them she is a bit more grounded and more complex than in the show, she is bitchy at times, but also shows depth and sense of maturity that show Yennefer does not, Anya Chalotra after all is a young actress so naturally it's harder to come off as experienced woman, plus certain key decisions of netflix show regarding Yennefer arch didn't suit with me.
I love their on again off again relationship that is tied up with destiny. I found a short story on line that the author gifted to friends at their wedding depicting the wedding of Geralt and Yennefer.
The actress playing Yennifer is not exactly blowing me out of the water, violet lenses or not. She looks averagely nice. Emilia Clarke as Daenerys on the other hand has been given a look that is downright iconic. Even without the special eye colour that character is recognisable from miles afar even by a half blind.
She is a perfect character I think 💭 plus her and geralt destinies are intertwined with ciri well that’s the third wish > and of course training for ciri Down the line
There is more to her that meets the eye she's mysterious, strong, secretive, reserved, powerful, emotional, sensitive, outspoken, empathetic, harsh, manipulative, compassionate, beautiful, fiery, light, dark, maternal, spirited, cold, warm, broken, complicated, wise, intelligent, complex, honest, blunt, black and white, shades of gray, and so much more.
Gray.... I appreciate your videos more than anybody else's, that I subscribe too. Your passion for the stories you cover is unrivaled. You, Robert, Bridge 4 are the reason I fell in love with books again. Thank you for inspiring your community every day.
Another amazing video! Love your thoughts on shows vs the Books....I started watching when you did Game of Thrones videos and always found what you said was dead on and appreciate your study of both the books and the show it truly helps fans like myself understand the story and the characters on a whole Other level! I look forward to seeing your next video!
I loved the series so much, that I began reading the books. Now 1/3 into 'Sword of Destiny' I just read this! Love, love, love Yennifer! I am excited to read (and eventually watch) her character and relationship development! Much love for not spoiling it! 🖤⚔️🐺
Dear friend... I forgot how wonderful that letter was .. dear friend ...You forgot to mention that Geralt asked Triss for help first... dear Friend .. looking forward to your reply .. Thanks for reminding me how fab and full of sarcasm Yenns letter to G was. Cracked me up the first time I read it but it sounded way better when you read it. .. looking forward to more .. I love Yen a lot but sometimes her n G's combustible relationship is a bit too much.
I think the show was a little rough on her. She is far from my fav in the show, but I do think she will be going in a different direction in Season 2 🐺
Agreed. Her reaction to Geralt binding their destinies didn't seem to upset her like in the show. Maybe things will change. I'm just going by 1st season 🐺💙✌️
Is this a good series? I've been meaning to watch it but I've been busy! I definitely trust Gray's taste so my interest is peeked, can you guys fill me in, Am I going to love it??? :)
Ya know I've been waiting on this video!! Go Gray❤️💜🐺 maybe Yen went to far during her transformation?? That's why she had her ovaries/uterus removed. Too get what she thought she wanted at that moment. She doesn't seem like the kind of girl that's willing to care as long as she gets what she wants NOW!! No matter what!!
Hey there Mana, now I still haven’t seen this yet but I’m into lock and key tell me the T on this and I watch this one, also start watching sex Ed it amazing
But, but... she is not a witch. Not at all. Never. And she's from Vengerberg, not "..burg", which is the capital city of the Kingdom of Aedirn. Watching the show you might have missed that part, but after having read the books? And while stating that she's your favourite character? Geralt's mother was a druidess, not a witch either. So, why? Why would you say and type such things? Aren't you up to making ppl familiar with the story and the characters? Then why doing the opposite?
Druidess witch tomato tomAto and I’m not going to keep repeating the most basic things I have already said in previous videos. The show showed her seducing her way into Aedrin so why?
The Snow Queen is a short story by Hans Christian Anderson. It inspired this as well as the movie frozen and the white witch in the lion the witch and the wardrobe. The shard of ice or glass from a mirror works its way to the eye and heart where it makes you judgemental and cold or unfeeling. This lack of empathy when it reaches the heart is found in many personality disorders and the black and white thinking cognitive distortion where only perfect people have value so since we are all imperfect we are all without any value is represented by the visual distortion. Many of us have a bit of this that we absorbed from our primary caregiver or in our family of origin. Geralt has empathy but can't really access it and Yenefer has vulnerability and can't access it. They are both damaged and they love each other and their unspoken needs will continue to go unsoothed until they seek counseling. I'm not a therapist so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
One of the things i hated in show is when Geralt 1st meets her she is using magic to force people to have sex w/ out their consent this is kinda mass rape how did this scene get approved makes Yen a criminal 🤷🏻♂️
Yennefer is the best female character in The Witcher books, she is the only sorceress who doesn't want to destroy Cirri and Geralt's life. she is so complex and didn’t fall into the fairy tale maiden paradigm .................................. Anya Chalotra killed as yennefer ... she was great..
My question is: does the assassination attempt on the queen she was guarding actually happen in the books? If so, why would the king have gone to so much trouble to murder his wife when one can assume he would have been able to in many easier ways?
I think the show Yennefer is kind of 1 dimensional while the book Yennefer is far more developed. I like the book Ynnefer the show one is kind of a whiny itch. All though the end scene for the series always makes me laugh when I see it!!! I had an actual laugh out loud moment there.

Love your take,and i agree.

Fell in love with her character she is very complex character
I love their on again off again relationship that is tied up with destiny. I found a short story on line that the author gifted to friends at their wedding depicting the wedding of Geralt and Yennefer.
That was the simplest and best explanation of the third wish that I have heard recently.
Thank you!
I love Yen! This name is on my baby list. Don't ask me why lol
Netflix made violent eyes look real but GoT didn't even try for Daenerys
Great point
They tried in GoT, but Emilia Clark got eye problems with the contact lenses. So they had to skip that idea.
emilia clarke the actress that played daenerys couldnt wear them she was allergic and she had a hrain anyerisum (idk how to spell it )
@@veljkomilosevic1447 They could've used CGI or put it in during editing like some youtubers have done. D&D didn't care
The actress playing Yennifer is not exactly blowing me out of the water, violet lenses or not. She looks averagely nice.

😘
Yennifer is the epitome of DETERMINATION. She really did turn a hard life into her own.
Devoted and LOYAL (to Ciri anyway) :)
You're just spitting out a bunch of contradictions. That's just known as "crazy".
Gray.... I appreciate your videos more than anybody else's, that I subscribe too. Your passion for the stories you cover is unrivaled. You, Robert, Bridge 4 are the reason I fell in love with books again. Thank you for inspiring your community every day.
She is definitely a gray character ☺️
So glad to see you are covering Witcher! Love hearing you cover game of thrones
She was my favorite character! I can't wait for the 2nd season.
Another amazing video! Love your thoughts on shows vs the Books....I started watching when you did Game of Thrones videos and always found what you said was dead on and appreciate your study of both the books and the show it truly helps fans like myself understand the story and the characters on a whole
Other level! I look forward to seeing your next video!
I died laughing when I read ( well audible ) that letter. Something my wife would write lol
Haven't read the books yet, and never play video games. The show is awesome, and so are your video reviews.
Girl I’m here for your videos and how you explain everything 🙌🏻🙌🏻 subscribing okayyy
I don't believe Witchers don't have emotions. Maybe some, but not Geralt💙💙🐺
Exactly! If Geralt was devoid of emotion, he wouldn't have attached Renfri's broach to his sword.
Im all here for this. Thank you for your breakdowns. 🥰🌻✌
Yen is like that and girl you don't need but can't stay away from. I just got to book 3 and can't wait to see how the story progresses
You make everything so easy. Thank you
Thank you for showing more of who she is from the books.
I like that the white wolf gif will still work due to "Witcher".
I loved the series so much, that I began reading the books. Now
1/3 into 'Sword of Destiny' I just read this!
Love, love, love Yennifer! I am excited to read (and eventually watch) her character and relationship development!
Much love for not spoiling it!
🖤⚔️🐺
Juicalation! 🧃🧃🧃🧃😂 Love me some Yennifer ❤️
Dear friend GrayArea, Thanks for the video 😁🤭
I thought that was you in the thumbnail 😂😂😂...I was thinking "damn she takes this serious" lol
Yen 💜 keep the juice flowing 🥤🐺
I keep picturing Cartmans hand 🖐 doing the yennifer lopes voice!!! Great video! 🙏 thanks
Some shades of Hans Christian Andersen in " that snow queen story"...
I love her character
YAS WITCHER CONTENT ON MY DAY OFF. Yaaaaaaaaaaaas!
Ugh girl. The discord tho 😔
Lady Brightroar hey boo
Hi love! Hope life is treating you well!
Yay I’ve been waiting for Yennefer video!! 😊
Her backstory is far more developed than that of Melisandre. 😎
I love yennefer period 👋🏼
You killed this video! Thanks girl!!
Gray Lady returns
That letter had me cracking up!
They could have picked an actress closer in appearance to Yennefer as described in the books.
She’s badass. Sounds like I’ll be obsessed with her like I am (STILL....whatever! Lol) with Daenerys.
Wouldn't mind watching your reviews of the Witcher episodes. I think youd do a great (and funny) job.
Gray Lady!
Can anyone tell me what he wished (the third wish to the jinn)??
Anya is very beautiful.
Yennefer the raven haired targaryen
Ashara Dayne??
GrayArea: What are your thoughts on Yenifer?
Me: She's a fucking G!
Good video, dear friend.
I luv her & you ❤️Lots of luv fr “Winterpeg “🇨🇦
What's going to get me through the long night
Is this a good series? I've been meaning to watch it but I've been busy! I definitely trust Gray's taste so my interest is peeked, can you guys fill me in, Am I going to love it??? :)
Grayarea can you please change your intro to targaryan.
Yay!! Juice time!
Juice time!

Sex ed is awesome! I even aught The Stranger which was good but only one season long, is Locke and Key good?
Guys I've watched the entire season of the Witcher but i still have no clue on what going.
😓😓😓
Wath was the last wish exactly?🤔🤔pllzz !
He bound Yennefers fate to his

The Witcher now eh! Jajajajajaja 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤭🤭🤭

Huh I never knew how toxic she was. Maybe I should switch characters....
1st
You should let somebody else read the script
We should talk. Nothing to serious
My question is: does the assassination attempt on the queen she was guarding actually happen in the books? If so, why would the king have gone to so much trouble to murder his wife when one can assume he would have been able to in many easier ways?
As I remember, the show invented this scene totally, maybe to connect her story, it wasn't my favorite.
No,it dont on the book.
I love her but the show did her her dirty
I think the show Yennefer is kind of 1 dimensional while the book Yennefer is far more developed. I like the book Ynnefer the show one is kind of a whiny itch. All though the end scene for the series always makes me laugh when I see it!!! I had an actual laugh out loud moment there.
Aww. I was here for the spoilers. I listened for nothing. Blah
Yay! Perfect timing!!!😁✌❤
