Hey, I put a 370 together in October 2020. I have had boats now for 30 years and this Whaly is one of the smallest boats I've owned BUT ! It is without doubt, the toughest and most versatile boat I've owned to date. I was looking for the same as you by the sounds of it and I found it in the Whaly 370. 10/10 all day long. We're in our winter now here in Scotland, so not had much chance to use her yet in the salt but launch regular on my local water Loch Ken. I put an 18hp Tohatsu 2 stroke on her and it sits so well in the water, with the recent addition of hydrofoil to the outboard, she gets on plane very quickly and I now manage to hold the nose down quite respectfully as I throttle her up to speed. Solo, trimmed top speed is around 29MPH, plenty to get me out to my fishing grounds quick and with no fuss :) I have set the console to the stern where you have it and fitted a upright flat profile fuel tank in to the wall of the rear bench seat so as to keep clutter to a minimum, this works really well. I find this boat has a superb load capacity and with 2 adults plus fishing gear or camping gear, still sits high and dry :) Superb piece of kit. I fitted my own boat out but didn't opt to run remote and steering cables through hull like a lot do, I have simply laid the cables flat to right side of the console (Starboard) through some protective flexi conduit and its tidy and out the way. I will be watching your future vids with interest, hope you enjoy your journey, I'm sure you will bud :) take care, Jimmy
Jimmy! Your comment is super helpful my friend! I actually got her in the water the other day to test my connections (video will post in a few days). I’m still figuring out what I want to do with cable management. I’ll be in the engine break-in period for a while but I noticed that the bow rides really high around 25% throttle. Might have to look into a hydrofoil. I also considered getting a custom fuel tank that would sit between the transom and bench. Did you have to custom order yours or is there one that fits nicely right off the shelf? If I can get the nose down a bit then I’ll stick with that plan. I had a momentary lapse in judgement and I pinned the throttle and it flattened out nicely. It’s just nose-up from about 25-50% throttle. Thanks my man! I look forward to hearing from you!
@@riversandridgelines342 Hey, thanks for the reply ! I bought my fuel tank from ebay, just googled diesel heater fuel tanks, I think most of these small tanks are used to power these diesel heaters some people install in their vans, trucks and campers etc. I did have to modify the fuel outlet so it fit my 8mm fuel line, no biggy though, easy to do. I routed all my control cables down to my right, Starboard side and installed a large inspection hatch on the right side of the console to access steering cable and battery. I could email you with some pics if you like. here's a link to the fuel tank I used, it will just give you some idea. you can use any fuel tank really but I thought installing a vertical flat profile frees up space for extra fuel cans and tackle etc. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7L-Plastic-Air-Fuel-Oil-Gasoline-Tank-For-Car-Truck-Air-Diesel-Parking-Heater-UK/233762697054?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Take Care, Jim
@@jimmygibson1932 Thanks Jim! I've found a few places that make custom sized fuel tanks and they're not too spendy so I might go that route. I'd like to have at least a 4-5 gallon tank. Luckily I am getting another console so I can hack this one up all I want to see what's best for routing cables. I do think I'd like to create a box on the starboard side where the cables run for extra storage and to hide the cables. I haven't put a ton of thought into it but I'm going back and forth between starboard and aluminum and I can't figure out how I would secure the box to the boat. One thing at a time, right?
I live in the netherlands, and i have a whaly 370 for t years now. Its the best boat ever. Its in the wather every day of the year, and thats no problem at all. I wish you a lot of fun with your whaly! Greetings, Thijs from amsterdam
Thanks! Finally making some progress (video out in a few days). Hoping to get some adventures in soon to refine my plans. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I have a Fun Yak 390, which is essentially the same boat from another brand, shape is a bit different. The material is the same and pretty much indestructible. Mine is the rescueboat version so it is filled up with foam inside, absolutely unsinkable. I am just waiting for my new engine 20hp Suzuki, and controls and stuff. I used to run it with a manual outboard and now i bought the console and remote controlled engine. Inwas just looking for videos on how to rig it up so thank you for your videos.
I never heard of Fun Yak’s before but they look very similar to the stuff Whaly makes. I had one hell of a time rigging this boat because there was neat to run control lines through the hull and I really didn’t want a messy looking set up. It took a while for me to figure it out because I didn’t know what parts existed, lol. It’s final form wasn’t terrible. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Hope you get out there and enjoy your setup soon!
@@riversandridgelines342 Well mu boat is from 2017 and still looks as good as the day i bought it. That material is incredible and easy to clean. Now i am just waiting for my outboard, apparently they are hard to get at the moment, delivery problems as with almost everything nowadays😭 Hope to get it before the summer ends .
Hey Eric! Wassup buddy. I am a big fan of your Chanel and love to see your adventure experiences. I heard one time it was said that you are going to file a claim with Whaly boats. Can you pls advise how is it going and what was the issue. Thanks !!
Hey man, I bought a whaly 310, which I use with Yamaha 6hp, 4 stroke 2006 model, short shaft, I found that the shaft is still 2 and half inch lower than keel and it splashes a lot water in, any solutions or advice cheers
Yes it just looks like my engine is seating too low, water line is very near the water "jet" and gets worse as I move towards rear of the boat, pitching the boats nose too high if that makes sence. Tried change the engine trim but doesn't make any difference. I'm a reasonable big guy 210lb but though boats was designed for 3 persons for sea... Should I look at long shaft instead?
Nice 👍🏽 boat brother. Thinking of getting the same set up out here in San Diego. What is the overall length with trailer? I noticed u rolled it in your garage.
Hey Sayid! Here in the states I paid around $4,000 for the hull and roughly $500 for the steering console and bench. There's only one guy who imports them into North America and he only supplies one vendor (Nautical Ventures) so I had to add another $500 for shipping. The buying process was horrendous and I will post a video about how terrible Nautical Ventures is. As of today: $8,750 AUD = $6,410 USD. I probably would still have bought it if I had to pay that. There's really nothing else that is comparable to the Whaly. I could have gotten a nice preowned bowrider for what I've spent on this boat but this hull gives me peace of mind since it is so robust. It's not a boat for everybody, but for what me and my lady were looking for it is absolutely perfect. Not only are they very rugged, they are also used as tenders on large yachts. What this means for us is that we can take it out on rivers and off shore and not worry about putting a hole in the hull or sinking because of a rogue wave, but if we decide to go to waterfront restaurants with docks it won't look out of place like a banged-up Jon boat would. Hope this is helpful to you!
@@riversandridgelines342 yea maybe ure right they're expansive because of the ruggedness and no need maintenance on the long run...thanks buddy its really helpful...cheers
@@riversandridgelines342 Matt (the fisherman) said he paid $2900 + options = $3200 two years ago. You paid $4000. The price on the website today is $4950. Crazy times.
@@marenovic "Crazy times"...you ain't kidding, lol. I would hazard a guess that the price is going up so rapidly because of the shipping costs since they're all made overseas. The interest in these boats has really increased as well. I've started seeing similar hulls on the market from different companies but they don't seem to be as robust as the Whaly. I look at "real" boats on the used market and every time I do I find myself even more happy that I bought a Whaly. It really has been a worry-free experience. I am going to start filming a re-build series as I try to install some technology and comfort features which will require a complete tear-down of the current set up- so if you're at all interested in some of the finer details of the boat stay tuned. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Hey Ben! I can't wait to get this thing wet! I also plan on taking this offshore, but not very far. I have some special things planned for the Whaly...spoiler alert in next video which should be live this weekend. Thanks for following the build and for commenting!

What's model trailer is that?
According to the tag on the trailer it is a Load Rite 14f1000wt. My guess is that it’s good up to a 14 foot hull with a 1000 lb load limit.
