    I am sold on all your recommendations. I knew that there was a lot of power interruption's, but did not know the power flow was so erratic.

    I bought my AVR directly from china for less than 1800 cedis. Mine is analogue screen cus that's what they had with 90% efficiency compared to 80% for their digital ones. Same 20kva capacity. Had I known, I would have gone for 30kv version for maximum load. They said you shouldn't use more than 2/3 it's capacity for safe operation. Using something like Aircon+ washer + fridge takes about all that's left.
    Each appliance should be calculated with 3x it's load. So 20kva leaves me just about ~6kw load at a time.
    I should add that my solar Growatt inverter is programmed to alarm at less than 170v which I guess it's the minimum safest voltage. ECG power is very unstable so this happens quite often hence the more the need for AVR.
    My thoughts, most people spend too much on the build without these absolute essentials. My goal is to eventually install an erv for fresh air flow.

      Thanks again for another great video. Quick question, can 220V AVR protect both 110V and 220V appliances? My house is wired with both 110V and 220V. Thx

    • @kingstal90
      @kingstal90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure
      All depends on where you connect the AVR into tha system. You can connect it before the step down transformer

    A little confused, isn’t the AVR enough to slow down an incoming high surge voltage? Why do you need SPD as well …

    What was the cost of the AVR and SPD respectively?

      My AVR (20kVA) single phase was 6,000GHs - this was purchased 12months ago
      Just asked about a 30kVA single phase AVR recently and was quoted - 9,000GHs

      Why do you have single phase avr when your house has 3 phase from ecg?

    Should you need SPD if you have already installed lighting arrester?

    • @kingstal90
      @kingstal90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      SPD protects the installation from inside (indirect strikes) while Lightning arrester protects the equipment from outside (direct strikes) . SPD protects the system from Lightning, switching transients, surges, etc. Lightning arrester is mainly used for direct Lightning strikes this is also called the AIR TERMINATION ROD.

    Is unfortunate you didn't buy DB with SPD on it. It was available at the time you bought yours cos l did my wiring a month before you. I don't know, but it seems you don't know GH market well when it comes to electricity. Anyway, l have AVR and a setup & down transformer since my house is 220v and 110v.

    • @kingstal90
      @kingstal90  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I said it was not available from that particular seller. I didn't say it is not available in the whole Ghana Market.

    • @kingstal90

      Also you do not know when I did my wiring. You assume you see a video means I am doing the work at that time is INCORRECT. Many videos are done well in advance including this one, which I recorded weeks ago

    • @kingstal90

      Solar normally comes with SPD by default. You wouldn't need the AVR as much as the Solar is just your home so the voltage fluctuations should be minimal
