I think, this was Kiwi's strategic loss as they were not interested to play any of the matches on Australian soil. Otherwise, they had all their round robin matches in their pocket prior to this one. Had they won this match, they were to play in Australia. Look at the total they put before the Green Guys. So, in a way or the other, I look at this match as Kiwi's silly loss rather than Pakistan's convincing win.
What’s wrong with kiwis wanted to play semifinal in their own home. Do india play their World Cup semifinal in srilanka and Pakistan?
I heard that NZ purposely lost this match to Pak. Pak was not in good form, struggling to reach semifinal, NZ was in extraordinary form, top of points table to play semi. So NZ decided to loose to Pak in this match so that Pak reaches semi, that way NZ plays against pak in win semi and reach final easily by winning them. But dramatic things happened. Pak won NZ in semifinal with Inzi's unbelievable innings and reached final to win against England to lift World cup.

Fun fact: Ramiz scored 119 not out, Wasim took 4 wickets, but Mushtaq was the man of the match with just 2 wickets (for 18 runs).
It may look surprising. But the fact is that Mushtaq showed a stunning performance with lots of variations, took 2 key wickets at key time and was so economic that NZ could never drive the game.

New Zealand intentionally allowed Pakistan to win this match so that they could play the semi - final on their home soil. But New Zealand, having Martin Crowe injured in the semi - final, lost the match against Pakistan. Nothing went as planned.
