Funny thing is, the character of Jean Ralphio was supposed to be a (temporary) love interest for Leslie, but the writers decided he was too young. Apparently originally Leslie was supposed to have a many short-lived relationships throughout the series, but then the Ben character came in and the rest was fate. Benslie for the win!

I know this is 2 years late but I found this out and need to share it lol... apparently the actress that plays Donna couldn’t stop hysterically laughing at that scene, they had to splice the scene between the two of them because he was making her laugh so hard she literally couldn’t film the scene with him talking, so they refilmed her part with him just mouthing the words and you can STILL see her about to crack up

I can't help but notice the clever use of editing for the scene at 4:30. There's a bloopers reel where Retta can't keep a straight face during Ben Schwartz's delivery: notice you can't see Jean-Ralphio's lips move in any shot where we clearly see Donna's face.
I noticed this very, veeery often in P&R. It's actually a kinda bad job in many scenes, you can just so clearly tell that the scene is stitched together.
@@saintazepam Is that why they do it? Because I just watched the series for the first time and noticed it happening a lot. I just thought it was choppy editing.
@@brittanyr9471 no it's normal for scenes to be shot that way. When two people are talking face to face and the camera pans back and forth between them, you're actually seeing two different takes for each actor. That's because they need to move the cameras or you'd see one standing right behind the person who's talking. If you pay close attention you can notice it in many movies and tv shows, but in P&R in my opinion it's kinda badly done
@@saintazepam I have noticed that technique in a ton of shows like this, but rarely do I so obviously notice the other actor not speaking or speaking, but the words don't line up. I still love Parks and Rec though
