Lung capacity is not that important, control is. You need to use what you have, but without control it's useless! Bell size is also a minor concern, just a matter of personal preference. I've heard small people with huge sounds and vice versa. The same goes for horns and mouthpieces. Ultimately it's not what you play, it's how you play that matters!!
I know you did not mean to be *sexist but women can play low brass too. My friend Cassie is half my size and plays a tuba bigger than the Tuba player in my city's Symphony. Not to mention I am a small guy, I only weigh 100 pounds and I play Bass Trombone as well. I play more Tuba parts on my Bass Trombone more than actual Bass Trombone parts. I mostly do Contra-Bass and Bass. I guess what I am trying to say is Size does not matter. Being able to control your air does. sorry for rambling on :/
I've seen many smaller statured men play the bass trombone very well. I thought that this woman did very well. If she just adjusted her breathing style she would be very good.
