The 3 pillars of ESG is Evironment, Social, and Governance. Each has their own criteria on what constitutes a certain weighted score.
When it comes to equality that falls under "Workforce" scoring: "The workforce score measures a company’s effectiveness in terms of providing job satisfaction, a healthy and safe workplace, maintaining diversity and equal opportunities, and development opportunities for its workforce."
Refinitiv is from one of the leading firms of ESG scoring and have been tracking the S&P 500 company's ESG scores since 2003. Google Rifinitiv ESG scoring and read the .pdf
So with the regulators mandating it, you'll see more workforce equality in marketing like this. Don't blame marketing, blame the new agenda they are coerced to adhere to.

I don't think it can be called a boycott now, I think AB just lost their core consumer base. They're not coming back. They broke the most important marketing rule of business, don't upset your core consumer base. It's an "iconic" brand which means it's consumed more for brand loyalty and nostalgia than because it's a great beer.

Companies are doing this to boost their ESG scores. ESG scoring was mandated by congress and made into law. Any company under the SEC now implements ESG scoring and is now held to a higher ESG standard score by the SEC while balancing share holders approval.
"ESG promotes the ongoing process of assessing, monitoring and improving how businesses operate sustainably through metrics-based reporting."
The 3 pillars of ESG is Evironment, Social, and Governance. Each has their own criteria on what constitutes a certain weighted score.
When it comes to equality that falls under "Workforce" scoring: "The workforce score measures a company’s effectiveness in terms of providing job satisfaction, a healthy and safe workplace, maintaining diversity and equal opportunities, and development opportunities for its workforce."
Refinitiv is from one of the leading firms of ESG scoring and have been tracking the S&P 500 companies ESG scores since 2003. Google Rifinitiv ESG scoring and read the .pdf
So with the regulators mandating it, you'll see more workforce equality in marketing like this. Don't blame marketing, blame the new agenda they are coerced to adhere to.
An ad campaign of that magnitude and the 180 degree turn in marketing would have been signed-off at the highest level.
I cannot go with the excuse that the senior leadership did NOT know it. Whether or not they actually knew the ad campaign was coming, they are still in charge, and they have the responsibility for anything going on under them. That is a failure of leadership, and the shareholders should hold them accountable. Of course, for the failure of leadership in Washington, the voters need to hold them accountable, but sadly, that seems to never happen.

The LGBTQ, etc thing has been in our face daily for much too long. Those folks are free to do whatever but it needs to be kept between the consenting individuals, not broadcast to the world on a daily basis.
