Yet again, you have a video that answers a question that I’ve gotten vague answers from google 😂 I have some of these in my tank right now. They’re native to my area, but I’ve always wanted to know more about them (as we only refer to them as minnows here). You’ve also explained how to tell the males and females apart. Thank you!
My pleasure!! You are so lucky to have them in your local area! It took me a couple years to get them in New York!! Pet stores don't sell them here and I don't like idea of buying anything alive online. My Least Killifish prefers live food over any dry food. They are hunters. Period. Grindal worms and small baby scuds are the primary food I can provide them on regular basis. What do you feed your Least Killifish with?
Also, the female Least Killifish most often sport a dark spot on their underbelly fin - though, it is not consistent. I've seen females with clear transparent bottom fin. The shape of the fin is the most reliable indicator just as with guppy and endlers fish.
Regular observations are the key. Fish behavior could tell you everything you need to know about conditions in your aquarium. In low oxygen water fish would stay near water surface all the time (that is where oxygen is higher). Fish should be swimming everywhere in a healthy aquarium. And fish would not breed in aquariums with too low oxygen (or any other not healthy parameters). That is simple like that 😉
Thank you , I have 2 no filter aquariums. The fish and shrimps are all over the tanks. They are never gasping for air. Also there is lots of breeding. One is a 15 litre no filter over 1.5 years with lots of endlers, shrimp and snails . The other is 20 litre over 4 years that I removed the filter 3 months ago. This one has 2 white clouds and shrimp.
@@Joe-Mtl I love my Blue Star Endlers. Endlers in general look very nice in any aquarium. I noticed that they enjoy water flow - I turn on a water pump for a couple hours a day for them to have fun 😊
Very interesting, thank you Michael. I’m wondering about my Minnows at the moment, they’re much bigger than the ones from my LFS where I’ll get the rest of my shoal ! But that poses possible problems 🤷🏼♀️ hey ho. God bless you 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️. 🙋♀️🤍🇮🇱✌️
That is the beauty of this hobby - the problems make us look for solutions which call for experimenting and observations. We are wired for resolving problems. We are good at finding problems and resolving them 😊You will love to figure it out in your way! Wish you all the best! ❤✌

Hi Michael, since you use only no filter jars / aquariums how do you know that the fish are getting enough oxygen.
