- I found myself in one of the weirdest and dumbest situations ever in Petropavlovsk vs Salem.
Both ships are tanky and kinda designed to fight bow in, but you'd never expect to be fighting bow in THIS CLOSE for THIS LONG. Usually someone will push or back off, or simply show dominance and win.
While I feel Salem should have win in this situation I guess Russian monster wasn't to be underestimated.

Gotta give credit to the Salem player for being above average to make this fight interesting in the first place.
This Salem player is knowledgeable enough to also deliberately aim for Flambass's turrets and really holds his on own for a while until he suffered the first permanent gun incapacitation, which honestly could have gone either way.
You could even tell he switched to HE after the first gun loss because he realized needed to go for a DPM rush on Flambass's lower HP pool after losing the incapacitation trades.
Eventually he even lost his second gun and resorted a final ramming decision, which would have easily succeeded if Flambass wasn't divisioned with two other equally skilled players to stop the ram.
But Salem also had 3 battleships behind him, which in so called "meantime" received ~90k and were all finished by Flambass. No, real cruisers don't even compare in this game to Soviet napkin "projects".
@@Edi_J Tbh Salem would obliterate Petro with good rng on his side. Flambass had 2nd turret destroyed, repaired and then first turret was destroyed. If this was pure 1v1 Salem should always be on the top with better dpm and superheal.
I completely agree. Most players would just rush and die (Like that Yamato). Instead he held for as long as he could, really delaying Flambass and his team.
@@bartekzacierka7129 No way. Flambass lost half of HP to Yamato and Ohio salvos. When counting turret incapacitations it was 8:4 to the Soviet thing. And it was while he often switched his focus to shoot those battleships. I might agree that when 1v1 Salem could succeed in ramming, but nothing more. And let's note that this was actually the least favourable way of playing the Soviet "project" - that's why Flambass was a bit frustrated, initially...

It's not busted, the real question is why we need a researchable mini stalingrad that can fill a BB in CBs as a cruiser and be effective mopping them, I feel like that's an odd role no cruiser should have
Edit: then again if you angle this thing won't do much damage and it's HE isn't that scary, just that many morons turn broadside against this thing and don't learn that it's different from most cruisers
Mainz The MVP well not exactly a mini Stalingrad, doesn’t have Stalingrad’s improved angles, and it’s accuracy at 16km+ is absolute garbage. This thing requires you to flank and position close to the enemy, and CV punish that kind of position hard.
Not to mention the absolute garbage HE DPM. It’s an AP monster, but AP monsters only work against stupid people.

"Average 150k game". Yeah, you know you're not getting in a top clan when someone says that. I think the average player is happy with 70k at T10 these days.

@@d_lynn4155 of course every ship has a weakness. But in random you can expect someone to give you broadside if you position yourself correctly. Positioning would be quite easy because of its long range and low shell travel time.
He used that chokepoint and heald up a superior ship. Salem did well. He almost got you and if your buddies weren't around, he may have.

I'm confused at 6:20.. how the hell those salvos are going thru the ships? XD
WOWS has a bug, when you shoot into an island there is a chance that shells will "go through" although technically it already hit the island. So you will see the projectile, but it's not actually there, just like balanced soviet ships.

yup, had a couple of pretty good games in Talinn as well today. It's a really good ship (it's russian, who would have guessed). I'm happy I was able to pick her up during the event. I basically skipped 3 tiers thanks to that.
SaiyajinOG of course it gonna be good! It’s Russian! But yeah that is really nice that you got it in the event for early access (you had to have spent doubloons to get it right?) When full released, you can start grinding to Riga right away like me. I didn’t even get Mikoyan though. But who cares about that ship anyways? (Plus if you still kept your Kirov at tier 5 it’s been converted to premium!)
@@nosoysauce1670 you dont need to on live server. If you complete your dailies and the event tasks, which they made real easy this time around, you should get the tallin by event end, if you are super lucky you may get farther. I had 280 tokens left and I only got one crate with 300 in it.. so basicly I could have gotten it without that 300 crate.
@@nosoysauce1670 Yup, I had to spent close to 50 bucks, but it could have been worse. I was pretty lucky in the beginnig, getting 300 tokens for free out of a random case. Mikojan is an absolutely horrible ship. It has range, but it's enough to look at it to make it explode. It's the best ship to target, if you want to farm citadels at T5 ;)

Gordon Goldsteinburg far? 17 km sure is good but far? I don’t know. You’re a good fire starter but the HE alpha is meh. Your AP is great but only 10 km below. Above it just shatters or ricochet. Hipper is a good ship, I have it. But I wouldn’t imagine of nerfing it. It’s fine as it is. Almost all cruisers are fine in general.
Bayard and Colbert are actually a bit questionable. Smolensk, I wouldn’t call it OP anymore because of its paper armor now, so it’s an ok ship. If you wanna nerf a cruiser, nerf Kutuzov and Belfast. Those two ships are broken AF.
How in the hell does a tier 8 russian cruiser have 19 km of range in the 152 mm guns? And you get 8 km torps? Chapayev doesn’t even have that. And then smoke? Like, really?
And then there’s the Belfast. Ok fine you have HE, but because it’s a “Premium” you get to slot the Concealment upgrade? And radar? And again Smoke? Who in the fuck needs radar HE smoking cruiser and the DD won’t be able to at least counter it at all? What kind of a sick joke is that?

God, this game is stupid. 16” gun Battleship shoots a cruiser for 10 minutes straight, fuck all damage. Shoots THE BIGGEST BATTLESHIP EVER BUILT twice, sinks it! Where did the idea that warships are virtually invulnerable end on come from? Absolute shit.
Hipper broken? Am I that bad? It doesn't feel that great. Especially when you get matched against Kremlins and Yamatos. But even in it's own Tier it doesn't feel that great. Bad fire chance, horrible concealment and the great hydro is just there so you maybe can dodge a torpedo with your below average agility.
