Jesse, I really hope you read this. You looked really nervous up there. I don't think you've been on stage in a while, and doing such a classic Op Ivy must have been nerve wracking. BUT PLEASE PLAY AGAIN. Please read all the comments. We love your music. I'm 45, and Op Ivy was the soundtrack to my youth. Now it's the soundtrack to my kid's youth. You made something very special. Thank you for sharing it with the world.

Fuck me this is awesome. What a legendary revival. I'm a 40 something dad, but I will never not listen to Energy end-to-end. Op Ivy was such an important part of my teenage years. And everyone saying Jesse looks nervous, but he warmed up fairly quickly and was spittin' those rapid fire lyrics as well as he did in '88. I really hope Jesse keeps doing little mini-reunions like this.

That and Blatz/Filth Shitsplit was always on heavy rotation with those three bands playing back to back in some order when at LEAST one of those records landed on the turntable. I too am in my 40's, pushing LATE 40's, like three years from 50! In the very early 90s, this was good.
I was never a fan of Rancid tho. Talented with out a doubt but it just wasn't the type of music I was into. I think by the time Rancid put out their second LP, I was more into the Crust Punk scene at that time.

Jesse being human on stage. This was a reminder to me that the people who made these iconic pieces of history are sometimes nervous and self-critical just like the rest of us. Jesse killed it though. You can tell how much this meant to him. At the end of the day, road-worn musician or a man stepping back into the spotlight after so many years outside of it, punk rock will always be a community where everyone who gives a piece of themselves to it will be treated with equal respect. Makes me proud to be a punk.
Op Ivy stands the test of time. As a teenage punk rock kid in 2009, even I had the Op Ovy logo painted on the back of a leather jacket. Timeless legends.

This was 100% classic, and brought back so many great memories too. Took me back to 1994, in middle school, when a friend at school let me borrow the 27 songs of pure gold, that made up that Operation Ivy CD. I had just discovered Rancid, with the release of Let's Go and its first single, Salvation, and I'll never forget him saying "you have got to check out Tim and Matt's earlier band!". Needless to say, I loved the whole CD, and went out that following weekend and purchased a copy for myself. Those songs changed my life, that CD changed my life, as did Rancid's music as well...I miss those times, and I miss those years as well. So crazy when I realize, that all was 28 years ago...where has the time gone to? Time flies, unfortunately...🤷

As someone in my mid 40's I'm always happy to see the people I was influenced by as a kid still alive and doing well. I loved Op Ivy starting back in the mid 90s and haven't seen Jesse since, so to see him perform was a real treat. Tim looked good too, I'm glad to have seen this.

I would’ve loved to be at that show, I would’ve had the time of my life. Ive been listening to operation ivy for years now because my it reminds me of my mothers. Seeing the original members of op ivy play live can literally be a once in a lifetime event, its so rare, especially with how Jesse thinks about op ivy. A lot of people in the crowd i bet didn’t know who op ivy were, and they don’t realize just how lucky they where, i envy everything about this performance and i wish i would’ve witnessed it first hand.

@@S.A.PUNX666 we must have seen a different band then, because 90% of each show his guitar has the switch down. even in the ska songs, which depend on his guitar, he just shuts it off at random times to do some hand gestures.

Op Iv was WAY better than rancid.... never made te jump myslef.. I found NOmeansno & other more meaningful punk rock instead of listing to rancids cheesy loves songs.
Rancid sucks, your sell outs that made no political leanings like nofx, just a band of hacky money grubbers. MDC RULES YOU!

Operation Ivy is one of those bands that is always nice to hear. I first got into them about 30 years ago, and I wore out more than one tape in my teenage years. As I got older my tastes changed a lot as I got into hardcore, crossover, grind, as well as a lot of non-punk type music, and Operation Ivy started to feel like old news…. But then someone would put it on, and I’d be right back there, singing along to every song. That’s true to this day.
I don’t know I’d be into a reunion tour though. If they wanted to do it and people were into it, I’d be happy for them. I just don’t have much interest in seeing bands play big venues with tons of security and corporate sponsorship. I’d want to see them in someone’s basement, a warehouse, a dive bar, etc. Punk shows don’t happen in large music venues, as far as I’m concerned. That’s not what I mean when I say “punk show” anyways. Rancid plays rock concerts. I’ve never had much fun at those.

Sounds good but I saw Op Ivy In 88 and the it factor, well they just had it. I’ve probably gone though 6-7 copies of the album over the years, and I had the cassette. Isn’t the same without Matt, and Dave brought a certain swing that another drummer just can’t match. ReUnite for a tour. Unity, remember?

Stop teasing 😅, get back together for a reunion tour. Glad to see them on stage together again, they never had bad blood just doing thier own thing, they are proper friends again and seeing and speaking each other more often (as jesse said). Such great lyrics written by jesse on i think all of the songs, he is a lyrical genius and such a inspirational album.

The rumor was (at least in our punk community in the late 90s and early 00s) that Tim Armstrong's odd singing voice was due to some kind of dyslexia he suffered from but now that I'm older than Tim was when he put those albums out I understand that it's just his gimmick I guess (for lack of a better word) as he's clearly capable of talking and speaking clearly

Epic! An Op Ivy reunion would rule the world. And just for the record, my two year old has requested "Op Ivy" and "Wanna Stop a War" so much, I straight sewed an Op Ivy patch on his hoodie a couple months back. The boy grinned from ear to ear when I gave it to him.
