this album is really different from all her work..... The songs in this album are so slow and vocally pleasing ....... I like it.....she is not making music for the General public anymore

@@hahahahahhhaa14 I’m so pleasantly surprised. I saw a few people saying they were disappointed on Twitter and I was like oh noooo. But I loved it. I don’t think it sounds like sweetener at all. I couldn’t really get into many songs on sweetener at all but this is my type of music
the amount of whistles in this album is insane....she is insane......she outdoes herself everytime

2. she gets her freak on BUTCHERING the beat and the harmonies on 34+35
3. we finally get the collab with doja
4. she snaps her fingers and gives the world an eargasm just like magic. we stan
5. she reminds us she’s the best singer of our generation just in case we forgot AND we literally got an amazing throwback to 2014’s love me harder. ICONIC.
6. don’t even get me started on this track. i cried. i think it’s about mac. it gave me imagine vibes and the lyrics and vocals were exquisite.
7. THAT BEAT???!!! ty literally being an amazing singer? ariana DELIVERING amazing vocals while riding that beat?? obsessed
8. she gave us jazz. she gave us LYRICS. and above all, she sang words NOT ONLY AHS OR OOHS while whistle toning. mariah has left the chat, GOODBYE.
9. nasty is literally what entering heaven must sound like. couldn’t stop smiling throughout the whole track.
10. west side is a cute little bop. not my fave but still real cute.
11. oohh love language is a VERY interesting song. it’s one of those that gets better every time you listen to it again. at first it’s meh, then you fucking love it.
12. honest to god knock me out. cooking in the kitchen then i’m in the bedroom is all my brain and mouth say these days.
13. love it. it’s cool and sexy and fun and just beautiful. obviously 😉
14. her best final track by far and one of her most amazing songs. i cried and felt so proud and happy for her. she sings her heart out, the beat and the instrumental is perfect! a true masterpiece

On track 8, you obviously haven't heard Mariah enunciate in the whistle register yet. Go listen to Bliss. Ariana's the best vocalist of this generation, but it's obvious who she gets her influence from. It's not a coincidence that many music critics and reviewers reference Mariah with their reviews of Ariana's albums because she does draw inspiration from her, and has been quite vocal about that. The two and Jennifer Hudson are reportedly collaborating for a Christmas thing and that's gonna be a vocal masterclass.

Off the table is about her past two relationship with Mac Miller and Pete Davidson, Mac unfortunately passed away which may or may not have led to them calling off ari and Pete’s engagement. So I think she’s saying after all that, especially Mac dying (maybe probably mainly this?) is love off the table cuz off everything that’s happening. This album is so fucking special. Especially when one line in one of the songs (I think just like magic) she says she’s writing love letters to heaven

I am a massive Taylor Swift fan. I didn't know much of Ariana's music apart from a few of her singles and honestly didn't care for it much. But I decided to give this album a listen and boy, my ears have been blessed!! I didn't enjoy positions as much (kind of a grower) but the other songs on here are sooo freaking good omg. I honestly cannot pick a fave, but I am leaning towards just like magic, pov, and 69 😁😁 I've heard Dangerous Woman is an amazing album maybe I'll listen to it next.

Y'ALL. I wasn't readyy!!! What a masterpiece of an album!! Loved it soo much ❤️❤️ My favs right off the bat are Moonlight, touch it, dangerous woman, be alright and I don't care (in no particular order) least fav would be Side by side and Everyday. But man what an experience! I mean I had no doubts on her vocal ability going into this, but she completely blew me away. ugh this album is perfection. Can't wait to listen to more of her discography ❤️
Okay since a few have commented for an update on my Ari journey here's goes:
I didn't get to listen to her debut and sophomore albums in its entirety, but I do love the singles and Tattooed Heart is a stand out.
Guys. TUN takes the crown. It's miles ahead of DW for me. A skipless perfection one can say. Sweetener tho I am afraid it's not a fav..sorry y'all sweetener stans please don't attack me 🙈 That being said, some of my favourite songs in her discography are in this album (GIAW, NTLTC, REM, Breathin) I don't know, the production in some of the songs threw me off. But it did win a Grammy over Reputation 👀👀
I also have new favs off Positions as it's been on repeat since it's release: six thirty, motive, safety net, test drive and worst behaviour
Some other singles that I loved: Not a fan of JB at all but I loved Stuck with U, Boyfriend, Met Him Last Night with Demi, Save Your Tears with Weeknd is chef's kiss (her lower register hello?? istg this woman's voice amazes me everytime)

I love what you said about Ari's bravery in making an album like this! This album really unexpectedly touched me because I feel like she's not just saying "I'm in love!" but saying look at how much more of an honest, genuine, kind, bad-ass person I've become now that I'm experiencing this special love.

so about off the table there’s speculation that the song might’ve been talking about ariana’s ex mac miller who as you probably know passed away, i can’t imagine how hard it must’ve been for her to break off an engagement after her ex who she still cared about a lot passed away
I appreciate the fact you don't sexualize her during this listening session so much. Most guys I watched made (unnecessary, not asked, rude) sexual comments toward her during some specific songs. Us guys should let girls express their sexual desires and just let it be. Really.

Personally, i luv this album and i luv how diff this is to her previous works, it has a lot of r&b influences and no pop influences like DW n TU,N. I personally luv the fact that Ari doesn't made this album for radio hits, charts and general public but for her real fans. POSITIONS album is great 💚 here are some of my tops:

A lot of these have hints to Mac Miller. (Send love letters to heaven- just like magic; heaven sent you to me- positions; off the table is about asking herself can she move on after losing mac or should she wait for him in the next life and Able’s part is supposed to show her new partner Dalton Gomez being there for her even though he knows he’s number 2 to mac just like she said in Ghostin in thank you next) and in safety net she says “never thought I’d feel like that again, I came to peace with my path now you got me off track.” She said she really didn’t think she would fall in love again after losing mac and realizing he was the love of her life, even though they did break up because of his addiction making their relationship toxic.

well this is 2 years old and i'm late but better late than ever i guess..i know this album wasn't everyone's favorite, but it shows her vocal ability as usual and there's good songs in there..but i think she's been the most expressive and open in this album, everything is so personal and it's just her and her personal things and her feelings, she's just putting everything she feels and gives it to us..and that's what i love the most about it, it's not my favorite in terms of sound but it's definitely my favorite and maybe her best album in terms of story and that's the selling point of it..i love how open, sincere and happy she is, and just like you said, self-love, i love that she's finally putting that in front

She is quirky and weird and I LOVE IT. Hot Pink and Planet Her are both excellent albums. I highly recommend them.
