- The fastest way to play guitar is with open tuning. You don't need to learn chords or theory. You only need to use 1 finger, 2 ears, and YOUR heart.
In this video I break down the basics of open tuning and how you can use it to immediately improve your guitar playing. Basic melodies can be turned into beautiful acoustic pieces without thought. It's awesome. It's my favourite thing I've recently started doing on guitar and I think anyone can have a lot of fun with it. Whether you're a beginner or have been playing for years, it's a great tool to have.
The world of alternate tunings can be pretty daunting, but it's actually much easier to start using than you might think.
Thanks for watching and enjoy :)

Asking for a future video if you want to be featured: What's the reason you want/wanted to learn guitar??
Thanks for watching guys, see you next Saturday
Because threats against politicians sound way less suspicious when accompanied by a guitar.
I play a lot of folk-punk
To get better at Guitar Hero II
hate to say it but anime. specifically bocchi the rock! its about guitar and bands and stuf you should try it
@@Comrade173 did it work?

Seems like too much work. Why would I spend 10 minutes tuning my guitar to open tuning when I can just learn the same melody in the span of 8 weeks.
8 is less than 10. I will delete this video
legit never bothered learning standard - my friends thought i was a genius for learning in a week. still haven’t told them i can just pick a fret and go lol
Amazing
Yes, this video. This is what guitar players need to watch. Any level guitarist
hey you changed your picture
@@RedlightBlue Thank you for noticing😳
the editing on this is so well done. good job man!
Thank you! I tried really hard
I remembered watching your video on memorizing the fretboard and so I went back to it and saw you uploaded again! Missed these videos, hope you're doing well.
great video on it! For me, i tend to avoid open tuning bc I dont wanna bother relearning the notes on the fretboard when i feel like doing little nuances up high but it doesnt take any time at all to sound good with open tuning. If you feel comfortable sliding, you will need 2 fingers to play each chord (the root on the E string and the 10th on the G string)
Very cool video and well explained, thank you!
I like Open D minor. Easy to do both major and minor chords.
DAmn mate, you're quality content really. At first glance, seems like jokey satire but is really really helpful on the second :)
I’m not even trying to learn how to play, your videos are just fun to watch
Wow I've been playing guitar for years and have never heard of this. Might give it a try one day, thanks c:
I like Open D minor (same as Open D as in the video, but F instead of F#).
Easy to do both major and minor chords.
Then gif bro I needed this, I’ve been putting off how to tune for so long
Great job dude!
Thanks!
Keep doing these.
Ok
Open tuning is magical.

If only i could make video faster than every 6 months
Omg he actually doing it
Next week’s Saturday video might even be on Sunday
1:42 how do you find the right key for other tunings? like for example d# f# c# f# a# c#
is there a website i could get that chart and customize the tunings?
thank you for freeing me
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING
I've tried learning guitar a few times, but just can't get into it. Could this be the gateway I need, or should I just keep trying with the standard tuning?
Standard dude. I’ve played for years and don’t understand this method…yet
can I tune it to a barre chord
i will have to write an essay on this
bell squad
hey thank you
Just in time for lunch
Basically, how to play any Devin Townsend song, lol.
Wait this means droptuning is inherently an open tuning
Ah shit I don't get it. So essentially, you're changing the sound of guitar compared to the standard one?
Exactly. Standard tuning is used because each string is more or less the same number of notes apart from each other. But if you just play all of the strings at once, it doesn't sound particularly good. Which is why normally you use open chord and barre chord shapes.
But with open tuning, instead of making a chord shape to play the notes in a chord, you just change the notes that your strings are tuned to.
E---->D
A---->A
D---->D
G---->F#
B---->A
E---->D
And then without fretting any of the strings, you can just strum and play a chord.
After that, you can just fret one string at a time and play the rest open and it will sound really good!
Let me know if that makes sense
@@RedlightBlue Aight crystal clear. Thank you!
You can't Tune a fish, but you can open tuna cans
teach a man how to open tuna cans and he'll play guitar for life
This guy is JustinGuitar on steroids
