Apparently, you can't feed the onion to your chocobo. You just "Use" the onion when your chocobo's summoned. (Mine was in the middle of a 5 hr plumage change at the stables when I figured that out)

yea i think i might of screwed up on this one but yea you just use the onion when your chocobo is summoned

You don't need to stable the chocobo to use an onion. Any time your chocobo is with you, you can "use" an onion.
