Pour moi, le meilleur interprète du monde , et de très loin.
The world lost a lot when he died, musically and as a human being. He was probably one of the most inspired and talented singer/composer/writer of his generation. He was also kind and generous, fighting against injustice, racism and poverty, especially in Africa (he helped and paid for bringing water in villages). We missed him a lot in France. Thanks for that lovely and sincere reaction.
Soo sad! Thanks for sharing :)
@@SandraSampsonColdfeet He was a humanist to be honest and he was so dangerous for the power in France cause he succeed to get all young peoples in his back.... He was amazing fighting for every rights and human rights..... Most of peoples think that it wasnt an accident what happen to him.
@@angellove91150 That’s even sadder.
@@SandraSampsonColdfeet Yes i know....But that's how the world go? The best one always left first.
heres the lyrics :
Like a fool is going to throw into the sea
Empty bottles and then hope
That we can read through
S.O.S. Written with air
To tell you that I feel alone
I draw in empty ink
A desert
And i run
I'm hanging on to life
I get drunk with the noise
Bodies that surround me
Like lianas tied in braids
Without understanding the distress
Of the words that I send
Difficult to call for help
When so many dramas oppress us
And the tears tied with stress
The cries of love suffocate a little more
Of those who are in weakness
And in a last hope
Disappear
And i run
I'm hanging on to life
I get drunk with the noise
Bodies that surround me
Like lianas tied in braids
Without understanding the distress
Of the words that I send
All the cries of the S.O.S.
Go in the air
In the water leave a mark
Whose scum makes beauty
Caught in their glass vessel
Messages struggle
But the waves bring them back
Starstones on the rocks
And I picked up the bits of glass
I put all the pieces back together
Everything was clear as water
Against the past there is nothing to do
We should change the heroes
In a world where the most beautiful
Remains to be done
And i run
I'm hanging on to life
I get drunk with the noise
Bodies that surround me
Like lianas tied in braids
Without understanding the distress
Of the words that I send
All the cries of the S.O.S.
Go in the air
In the water leave a mark
Whose scum makes beauty
Caught in their glass vessel
Messages struggle
But the waves bring them back
In stones of stars on the rocks
All the cries of the S.O.S.
Go in the air
In the water leave a mark
Whose scum makes beauty
Caught in their glass vessel
Messages struggle
But the waves bring them back
In stones of stars on the rocks
Thanks a lot:)
@@SandraSampsonColdfeet The meaning is not the same in French...
@@SandraSampsonColdfeet it's basically about suicide.
❤
That's why we're so PROUD to be FRENCH
Grave !!!!!!
It is one of the most beautiful songs of D. Balavoine. The lyrics, the melody and the arrangements are superb. Thank you for your nice reaction.
Well said ! Thanks for watching.
Daniel Balavoine was one of the only French singer of his generation to know how to convey emotion through his songs, and his voice was so powerful and intoxicating that he was able to make you cry.
his texts have always been of great finesse, that's why in the 80s, he was always at the top of the charts!!
He was a good soul he song like an angel he miss a lot for us french people it was a rebel but he defended always the youth
Daniel Balavoine was a passionate person. He died shortly after this recording in a helicopter crash in the Sahel while working to bring water pumps to villages gripped by the growing drought.
That’s so sad!
As a French person, I have always used to listen to music from my country of course, but a lot of English too; and also sometimes Italian, Spanish or even German, without understanding a single word (I have been speaking English for a few years but that's all) and that has never stopped me from adoring lots of English or American singers or groups. . the voice, the melody, it is this emotion that comes first ;) ; thanks a lot for your reaction, Balavoine has a very touching and pure voice, one of a kind !
Thanks a lot for watching :)
TH-cam a au moin permis une chose. Faire rendre compte à la terre entière que la musique française est la plus puissante et la plus riche en émotions.
Thanks you
Hmmmm... Not so sure. (from France)
T'es mignonnette et touchante...Tu ressents la sensibilité de Balavoine sans comprendre le Français... Formidable ! 😁😅😘👍🐓
Thank you so much :)
SANDRA MERCI pour cette écoute DANIEL BALAVOINE un personnage attachant , magnifique ......
The voice of an Angel... So beautiful song.
Next to no one in France is immune to Balavoine! I was 14 when this came out, teenagers still listen to it today... Cheers from Val de Loire, luv!
Thank you Sandra.
We love him so much in France, more than 35 years after he died. He's a legend here. He was so humanist, sensitive, angry for good reasons. An icon, a master, a guide. He was all of that for us.
Please react to other of his songs.
Love from France
He’s gained a new love from me 🤍
his voice goes to meet our deepest emotions....
Hello Sandra, All the music is composed with the idea of the sea in motion (the whole first part is made up of samples of surrounding noises, a technique still little used at the time. D. Balavoine was a pioneer in this area) the waves crashing on the rocks in a spray of foam. And the tide that tirelessly brings that bottle back to its sender before it breaks itself on those same rocks, destroying any hope that this message will ever be discovered by anyone. It's a song about the isolation of the human being, his loneliness in a time of progress, on the incommunicability that the latter ends up creating between men. It's a song written before the internet and social media era. If D. Balavoine saw what is happening today, I think it would drive him crazy! :)
Bet it would. Thanks for sharing :)
tres bien dit.
Спасибо за видео, привет из России❤️
I'm french and this singer miss me He passed away in 1986. Thank you for your reaction
Thanks for watching :)
Look at the translation of his songs......it's gorgeous! ❤ you love this song because it's Good!
This man was a genius And an amazing human being. Please read the lyrics of all his songs. Deep and beautiful lyrics. And HIS VOICE 🔥🔥🔥. Many wonderful songs
It's an excellent song by Daniel Balavoine. I advise you "le chanteur" or "vivre ou survivre" for Daniel Balavoine. Or "Goodbye Marylou" by Michel Polnareff
Thank for reaction Daniel balavoine is very important in France, he is unique voice , he is so emotionnal
English language is a mind brake .
So many exceptionnals french songs
never out of France .
Mylene Farmer/JJ Goldman/Michel Berger
Gainsbourg/.../.../.../.../.../.../
Magnifique song , you are solar,☀️you re beautiful 🤩kiss from bordeaux 🙏🏽
The thing with french songs, when you're an English speaker, is that the rythme of the lyrics feels different on the beat. Cause English and French have a different accent rythme... so it feels new... and that's so great!
True, That just makes it all the more exciting !
La france pleure toujours ce chanteur.
I'm not a big Balavoine fan even though being French but this song is one of the most beautiful ever written and I'm glad the emotion came across. It's called "being human" and I love how his emotion touched you across languages !
Oh! I’m glad you enjoyed this.
Thanks for watching :)
"Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
With an equal opportunity
For all to sing, dance and clap their hands"
Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke
He made this song after his first trip to Africa because he saw children chasing flies to feed themselves.
always a good song when it's Daniel Balavoine. Very good singer in France and your reaction is emotional even if you don't speak french .... Very good !!!!!!!!!!!!
Sista, I don't know if you were following up the lyrics in english, but you seemed to truely understand the words and the POWER of his pain about how f... up everything is and how we need to "change the heroes" to make it RIGHT. Obviously fantastic song, glad you heard it. Tears of emotion, best ones.
Thanks a lot, it’s truly an emotional one .
don't cry beautiful girl he wanted to help as much as he could, his songs trace it all

Hello Sandra, so you've just discovered Daniel... He was and still is a real icon in French music. And also, a great human being, many of his songs are socially committed. There are many songs left for you to react, really a ot, because he was such a talented artist. As you are are from an african country, I would recommedn you listen to "Pour la femme veuve qui s'éveille", you will understand why I recommedn that one especially to you ;-)
Thanks a lot, will check it out :)
Every cry, each SOS
Like a mad man goes to throw at sea
Empty bottles, hoping maybe
Somebody can read through them
The SOS written with some air,
To tell you that I feel alone,
I am drawing, in blank ink, a desert.
And I run, I'm hanging on to life,
I'm getting drunk on the noise
Of the bodies around me,
Just like creepers tied in braids,
Oblivious to the distress
Of the words that I throw.
It's not easy to call for help,
Drowned in so many tragedies,
And the teardrops tangled with stress
Smother a bit more the cries of love
Of the ones who live in weakness
And, in a final hope, dissolve.
And I run, I'm hanging on to life,
I'm getting drunk on the noise
Of the bodies around me,
Just like creepers tied in braids,
Oblivious to the distress
Of the words that I throw.
Chorus:
Every cry, each SOS
Vanishes in the air,
Leaving, in the water, a trace
Made so beautiful by its foams.
Caught in their vessel of glass,
The messages struggle
But the waves do bring them back
As stardust upon the rocks.
And I picked up the splinters,
Put the pieces back together.
Everything was clear as water,
There's no winning against the past.
The heroes ought to be replaced
In a world where the best is
Yet to be done.
And I run, I'm hanging on to life,
I'm getting drunk on the noise
Of the bodies around me,
Just like creepers tied in braids,
Oblivious to the distress
Of the words that I throw.
Chorus: (x2)
Every cry, each SOS
Vanishes in the air,
Leaving, in the water, a trace
Made so beautiful by its foams.
Caught in their vessel of glass,
The messages struggle
But the waves do bring them back
As stardust upon the rock

This comment means a lot to me as well :)
Daniel Balavoine died too early... in an accident during a humanitarian operation in Mali. He composed himself this music on a synthesizer, with a sampling of sounds, like a locomotive horn (the strange instrument at the beginning).

Daniel Balavoine composed all his lyrics and of course his music .. you can listen “ mon fils ma bataille “ he was inspired by the movie Cramer against Cramer for this song, the story of a father who fights to see his son after his divorce.
a difficult and moving subject
another magnificent song by Daniel Balavoine.
it's really touching to see the emotion that this song gives you, when you don't understand the lyrics .. thank you for that .. daniel was a man with a big heart .. he preached tolerance, and love of men .. he did a lot and we miss him now ...

Nice reaction again, thank you! For me, also encountering this artist for the first time, it was similar, when the intro started I was like "uh, well, hm..." and nearly about to pause and maybe watch later, just coming from listening to classical music I felt I was not in the mood for this type of electronic, synthetic sound, but just in time his voice hit in and from that moment on I was captivated... still think I would like it even better with another instrumentation...
You get it !
Thanks for watching :)

With everything he had offered for Africa, you could have put the subtitles on to understand the words.
