This song talks about the difficulty for D. Balavoine to convince people of the necessity of building wells to bring water to villages in Africa that lacked it. He had created an association that worked for the construction of these wells.
The lyrics are powerful and beautiful when you put the song in context. However, the text takes on total another dimension, and then, becomes universal.
This is also why the whole style of the rhythm section is African (the percussion section is Senegalese, it seems to me). The background sound, if you pay attention to it, is very tribal.
