    Glad to see you back on a more regular basis. I no longer rely on threading the hole of wooden brushes or bottle stoppers. There are threaded stainless steel and brass inserts available for them now. I still tap acrylic blanks, but it is much more assuring for me to use the inserts.

      Thanks Terry I too use threaded nerp inserts for woodworking projects I just thought I would give this a try and it worked with the Thick CA glue just jine I have been using for six weeks now twice a week and it is great!

    Beautiful set!
    The threading problem on the brush is something that I've encountered many times with bottle stopper. The cause is that the blank is a spindle, which means that you are drilling/threading end grain, and that always produces weak threads. The best solution is to use a threaded insert. You can buy metal threaded inserts at most hardware stores, but I prefer to make them from wood (typically ash) with the hole drilled in face grain. Face-grain threads in ash are very strong. I make the insert 5/8" in diameter, and drill a corresponding hole in the blank and glue them in with Titebond.

      Thanks Louie I will use a Nerp insert next time or the thick Ca worked really well I have used this for six weeks now and twice or three times a week and I love it!

    Hey Erik, have you ever had a catch on the bushings? You get real close!

    • @ErikAnderson1
      @ErikAnderson1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question David, Not yet but one never knows until it happens. it is all about rubbing a micro amount of the bevel against the bushing before approaching the workpiece and rolling out leaving room for a finish cut from bushing in! Thanks for the question and I love the razor set I have used it 5 times now, I just wish it were a butterfly style safety razor.

    Nice project Erik. The CA Glue finish should hold up well on a product that is constantly used around water. Regards!

    How waterproof is the CA finish?

    • @crazywhitedog78
      @crazywhitedog78 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can be a very durable finish. As long as it is applied correctly.

    • @ErikAnderson1
      @ErikAnderson1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I Love Zebrano as well Eric. That set looks great. Were the bushings you were using for something else as when I turn using bushes the smaller shoulder fits inside the tube to give support and is then easier to then the bank down to the correct size of the larger shoulder of the bushes. Cheers, Huw

      Thanks Huw and yes they were bushings from a pen!

    My name is jack and I love to turn wood. I am 14 years old and have been turning for 2 years. Because I do not have a bandsaw I can only turn small bowls and pens and to be able to afford a bandsaw it is inportant for me to sell my products. Please tell me how to sell my stock.

    • @ErikAnderson1

      Thank you Elizabeth, This set was a prototype for me and I love it, I wish I could find a butterfly style mechanism for wood turners. I think I will try selling them as the go for 250-350 and upwards for nice high end shops so we will see! I like projects where I don't have to but parts but this is a really nice set.
