  • An ad-free, no fluff overview of the Thule Tepui HyBox Roof Top Tent and Cargo Box
    ❗Notice: This product has been recalled due to safety issues. If you require more information, get in touch: www.rackattack.com/contact-us/
    Tepui is proud to present the first hybrid rooftop system: a rooftop tent and cargo box, now built into one sturdy, easy-access hardshell. A comfortable tent or a spacious gear container- you no longer have to choose between the two for your vehicle's rooftop. HyBox utilizes Tepui's patented ZipperGimp™ to allow for easy conversion between uses; simply zip on the canopy when you're ready to camp!
    ✅ Release latches on both ends to open into a pop-up rooftop tent, or open one side for easy access into the cargo storage area.
    ✅ Mount directly to the rack or aftermarket bars on your vehicle.
    ✅ HyBox provides 23 cubic feet of storage space- more than many other brands' largest containers.
    ✅ The unique aerodynamic shell design with the Tepui badge embedded in the upper shell provide a
    fuel efficient and quiet ride.
    ✅ The HyBox canopy is an optimum blend of 260g cotton and polyester coated to a waterproof
    rating of 3000mm yet breathable providing both comfort and protection.
    ✅ The Hybox is equipped with one 8ft-6in telescoping ladder that can be attached on either side of
    the tent for easy access.

    Do they come in matte black finish? I have a T4R with stock roof rails, which crossbars should I use to keep it a low profile.

    Why would the ladder add 170# to the weight?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The additional weight of the ladder to the tent would bring the total weight to 170-pounds.

    Could this pop on a Golf GTI?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most bare roof vehicles, including the Golf, use clamp-on type roof racks. Rack and tent manufacturers do not approve rooftop tents on clamp-on type roof racks.

    Thanks for the overview, the hybox looks spacious enough for 2 person or perhaps can also fit a another child?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Best to compare the sleeping area to a standard bed size, the HyBox mattress size is closely matched to the dimensions of a double bed. In a camping situation, this would be comfortable for two people and possibly a small child, but some may also find this a bit confining, just depends on the individuals. Thanks!

      I just got one of these tents. I think the sleeping area is closer to a full size bed than a twin.

    Is the 65 mph speed limit do anything

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100% sure what you are asking, but most of the Tent manufacturer's have a 60-70mph recommended limit. However the road you are on and the local laws will be more important limit speed wise.

    can you mount this to a roof of a Subaru?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Subaru Ascent with an approved roof rack would be a good proportionately sized vehicle for this tent, the Forester and Outback Touring could work too but it's a bit long for those. There are smaller tent for smaller vehicles: www.rackoutfitters.com/roof-top-tents/

      @@rackattack i got one for my crosstrek it is great , only bad thing like you said it is a bit too long for my car which the front and back of the tent stick out of the car which i can only open my trunk half way but that not a big issue

    You have me intrigued and yet wanting. The video had a lot of commentary, but few demonstrations. I know this is an old video, but consider this feedback for future videos. 1. Please start with the RTT closed and go from there. 2. Explain all of the4 exterior details with examples and a walk around. 3. climb up into the tent and so the interior, I would have liked to see the inside construction and how much room exists.

    Ok, so the roof rack can support 150lbs (the weight of the tent), so where do the 2 ppl sleep????? Lol

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two weight specifications: dynamic or static, in other words, driving or parked. Rack manufacturers publish dynamic load capacity, it's less common to see published static capacity. It is generally accepted among the rooftop tent community to calculate the static weight as 2.5 times static.

    thule roof racks are rated at 200 bro

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, thanks for commenting. Roof rack weight ratings are vehicle specific, most vehicle's maximum dynamic load limits are 165 pounds. Thule lists some of their roof rack bars with a 200 pound rating, however, the vehicle is the limiting factor and very few are above 165.

    these tents seem to be falsely advertised. the tents are over 100# 2 people, over 250#. how many vehicles have roofs that can withstand over 350# of weight?

  • @shawnmclaughlin7418
    @shawnmclaughlin7418 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am sorry but every single one of you manafactures over build these things and we all know that none of them hold up after a few years so therefore the cost to buy is just ridiculous its a tent for christsake how the hell do you manage to make these 150lbs.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The weight of the tent comes from the need to have a strong solid base to safely carry the sleeping people in the tent floating 5ish+ feet in the air. Most tents use fiberglass or aluminum for the base which makes it a little beefy at times. I too wondered about the life-time of roof top tents, but I've seen over 10 year old tents that look pretty brand new. As with all things, they can last a long time with a little TLC from there to there.

      @@rackattackyour right and maybe i am lashing out because lets be frank for a decent set up rack included is beyond overpriced. I love the engineering the thought but i cant see the value. But my attitude keeps me from what obviously is a hott market. So sorry if i insulted you i am just hatin cause i cant have one.
