omg its ME !!!! hehehe thanks for the wee shoutout and glad I could provide you some form of entertainment while doing all that data analysis :') (also omg that massive screen - I need that in my life)
You’re welcome!! That’s why I was commenting on lots of vids recently - was catching up on all your recent vids!! The massive screen is amaziiiing, just glad I didn’t have to pay for it 🤣🤣🤣
I’m finding your post doc work videos really insightful and helpful for me. I’m considering a PhD that is more of a post-doc researcher-esque position and seeing how your day goes and what kind of work you get to do is helping me identify and brush up/learn the skills I’ll need in future. Lovely video as always Dr Jessica. I hope your data analysis and presentation go very well. Although I like winter, I agree with you on its gloominess and darkness.
I’m so glad you are enjoying them! I wasn’t sure if this one was going to be boring since I didn’t show much lab work and just talked a lot 😅🤣 thank you so much for your comment! It’s good for me to know what content you are all enjoying :)
Nice video Jessica. What do you think has been the most different thing from your postdoc compared to when you were still a PhD student (could be anything, responsibilities, how you work, writing papers or grants, etc)?
Thank you! I think the hardest thing for me has been adjusting to no longer being a student and feeling like I should now be an experienced researcher who knows what they’re doing. Because my post doc is in a different field from my PhD, it has been challenging to try and learn a whole new research topic in a short space of time too.
I am MS scholar I have worked on isolation of plants natural products. Is there better scope of this work becuase this very coventional work in chemistry, Can I join industry with this type of work or Ph d position in best universities. or should I change the field I have purified 4 compounds with manual column chromatography, otherwise give me your precious opinion. Thanks
@AsifIqbal-jp4of for PhD there are many groups working on natural products so yes, there are opportunities available. For industry, what type of job do you want? Doing research in natural products helps you to gain a lot of lab skills like chromatography, structure elucidation, purification etc which can be very useful skills to have when applying for a job in a lab.
@AsifIqbal-jp4of for PhD research it is best to do a phd in a research area you enjoy as you will be doing the PhD for many years and should be interested in what you are researching or it will be a very long few years. Since you also have some experience with natural products this will be useful for applying for a PhD in natural products. I hope this helps!

You actually look very nice with glasses and no makeup, absolutely nothing to excuse! Thank u for the videos, could you maybe show us more lab work?
Aww thanks a lot! I’m quite shy still in the lab as not many of my colleagues know about my channel 🤣 but I will try to show more!
