    I tried this when ordering a ton of different papers and I was surprised at how great it is. The price is good too.

    Hi Teoh Thanks for this review - great as always. Lanaquarelle is becoming my favorite paper it used to be Saunders Waterford. I like it’s white and can take a lot of water.

    On Friday (6Dec 2019) I attended a demo at the Daniel Smith store and learned that their lab uses this paper to test all the watercolor paint they make there! “It shows the colors well”

    Thank you Teoh. You produce the most informative and comprehensive reviews on the internet! I love Arches paper, and now want to try this as well. The best advice I received as a new watercolor painter was to use good quality paper; it is the most important component of successful watercolor painting. I had not heard of this paper before, so thank you for this excellent review! Happy New Year to you and your family! 🎆🎊🎈

    I subscribed to your channel. Like your teaching methods, your explanation of watercolor colors is very good. I am sitting in a cafe today and chatting with my friends. Also, I drew a picture.

    I saw a wonderful video testing high end papers and this paper actually was BETTER than Arches and Fabriano. Especially in the sense that it doesn't warp (Arches is making waves for me) and it does much better wet on wet than Fabriano. I have some on order and I can't wait to try. It's right up there with Hanhemuhle's Collection papers, but less expensive for me in the USA. I could see right away in your video how brilliant the colors are!

    Teoh, you should really consider having a fundraising campaign for your channel by selling journals made by the Society of the Physically Disabled with LANA Aquarel. For example, figure out the cost of producing and shipping 50 of them plus a donation, and have people pre-order them so the project is paid for before production begins. I know you have thousands of people who trust your reviews and would buy a premium watercolor book to support everything you do. Also it'd support the society too! You could put a parkablog logo on the cover? I know I'd buy a few!

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those sketchbooks are going to be expensive. An A5 100% cotton Arches/Fabriano is going to cost probably US $40 (40 pages) not including shipping (probably around US $10).

    • @EstrafaDC
      @EstrafaDC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teohyc Is the Fabriano cheaper than this LANA paper? That's what I was talking about. $50-60 for a really good watercolor journal with great 100% cotton paper doesn't seem like that much of a burden if it also supports a channel we love *and* a worthwhile nonprofit like the Society. That comes to $1.50 a page? For comparison, the new Sketchr journals -- (the old Perfect Sketchbook) -- is going for basically $60 a pop *they're selling them for 119 US dollars for two). So $60 to support a resource like yours AND the Society's work seems MUCH MORE WORTHWHILE to me. But that's me. Maybe poll your viewers or your patreon folks. The way I look at it its buying a good watercolor journal that's been vetted by a trusted authority (you!) :-)

      Gary Weybright: Hi Claudia! It is really easy to make your own sketchbooks; there are various TH-cam videos on how to stitch the signatures together, and it doesn’t take long at all. I have a leather cover to hold the signatures, and I use headbands from Dollar Tree down the spine of the cover at the halfway point of the signatures. It’s also fun to find various books at thrift stores or old address books - anything you like. Just remove the pages; most come out easily. You can make them any size or orientation you want. It’s fun and inexpensive!! 😊

    It's worth noting that this paper is vegan (!), like all Hahnemuhle papers :-)
    And the hot pressed paper is lovely to use with colored pencils because of its smooth, slightly "furry" texture.

    Thank you for a great video, as usual! I am so sad to report that the Lana paper factory, located right near where I live, closed it‘s doors yesterday. An address book filled with clients and full of orders, they did not survive the local government‘s decision to augment building taxes by 300% badly timed together with 2022‘s rise in energy costs. Difficult times for the ex-employees and all involved. 😢

    Thank you so much for the review Teoh. So helpful. May i ask, how does this paper compare to Saunders, and how is its 'drying time' compared to arches and saunders? In my environment, paper dries very quickly unfortunately. This paper is a lot more affordable than arches here, and tbh im not sure i like arches that much now 🙈 i Hope you and your loved ones are well and safe .

    Beautiful paper. Very expensive in the US. Arches will go on 50% off sale now and then and Fabriano Artistico will have some decent deals now and then. But Lanaquarelle is always out of reach for me. To bad so sad.👍

      @@teohyc Thanks Teoh. I have a bit of Arches and some hot press Fabriano. Right now I'm enjoying Sanders Waterford and trying some Moulin du Roy. The Moulin paper is by Canson and is very nice allowing a long time to work and blend on the paper too. 😁

    I tried this paper today and hated it. Maybe I got a bad paper. It pilled so bad and everything got muddy. I was super disappointed.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Test the paper first. Paint an area with colour, and when the wash is still wet, paint maybe 3 horizontal lines and see how the lines blend with the paper.
      If the horizontal lines blend smoothly and the lines disappear or the horizontal strokes are no longer noticeably, it's good paper. It means the paper can handle wet on wet well, which is the mark of a good watercolour paper.
      There's an example here
      www.parkablogs.com/content/review-baohong-watercolour-paper-student-grade-100-cotton
      Paint can be muddy due to two reasons. The wrong combination of colour is used. E.g. Phthalo BLUE and wam RED will not give you a vibrant purple. The other reason is the sizing of paper has deteriorated and paint goes into the paper rather than remain on top, so colour is less vibrant.

    • @kathyhackney7950
      @kathyhackney7950 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teohyc 🤔 Maybe the sizing was bad. I didn't think about that bc that's literally never happened to me before. Unfortunately I won't know for a while bc this was a sample pack of all different kind of hot press paper I got from an Etsy supplier and it only contained one of each brand. (Super reasonably priced 😉 worth checking out) But one day, I'll try lanaquarelle again, I'm sure.
