And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. I picture the description given in the first three verses of Genesis 1 as more like a creation of a baby. The earth was birthed by God and is initially formless and surrounded by water "amniotic fluid sac" and his spirit hovering over it. This reminds me of the time Mary was told she was going to have a baby even though she knew no man in that way. She is told how in Luke 1:35 "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you". I think that is what we are seeing in the first few verses of Genesis. A birth. Birth of the earth. The Holy Spirit hovers when giving birth. Over the earth, over the water. It is a dark place in the amniotic fluid sac. That is the description in Genesis. Darkness and water. That's not understanding the “images” in the Bible hence everything presented here is unseen or seen through your imagination.
