Basically, the reason yoko geri kekomi is typically performed rather yoko geri keage in competition kata is that kekomi is a more difficult (and thus impressive) kick. Tournament kata is ultimately all about showing speed, strength, flexibility, precision and control in the absence of an opponent.

.OSS, WKF has slight difference then JKA. However, beutiful technique. I have the greatest respect for WKF.I think their naturel form produces great Karate.
@sisspon sps some of the foot work and the kicks. in jka they are snap kicks, but in wkf they appear to be thrust kicks hope this helps
@@cameronferguson7276you don't know what you're talking about..... the difference between Wkf and Jka is that the Jka does karate the Wkf does a useless surrogate sport of karate..... the kata performed in this video is performed with many errors. ...Jka = true karate

Not bad, but this kata performance sport (WKF), it is not Budo Karate (JKA). And it is very different kata in karate as self karate. Oss!

It is a snap kick. This bloke is incorrect on so many levels. His kata is so wrong.
I appreciate this video, but note that you teach the kata different than both jka and iskf...

The kick looks like Yoko kekomi geri. It should have been Yoko Keage geri.
