Just over a quarter-century later, it's still hard to describe just how influential this song and this entire album were to popular music.

Dookie was a top 10 album of the 90s over all genres. It’s infectious. There’s no vaccine. Half that album is still on the radio daily.
I’d put it in my top 10 favorites for sure, and it makes a solid case to be included in my top 5

Favorite band ever. Only saw them once in New Orleans and it was perfect circumstances. 3 hours before the concert a guy I work with found tickets for sale online and spontaneously asked if me and my wife wanted to go with he and his girlfriend. I flipped bricks!!
Then due to the demographics of New Orleans, There weren't all that many people at the concert. 98% of the people down there listen to a different genre of music. When we got there our somewhat better than crummy seats were suddenly upgraded to pretty damn good ones. Best concert I've ever been to........oh......and it was FIVE hours long.

Green Day broke out my freshman year of high school. I was a soldier when they came out with American Idiot. For me, that was my deployment music which got me through the suck. Hope this is the first of many.

I'm generation X and I will say Basket Case is a great track but I really dislike Greenday, them and Coldplay are bands I cannot wait to turn off.

Back in Middle School I was all about Pop R&B and Rap. My friend gave me a copy of Dookie for my birthday to try and "convert" me and I've never looked back. I wouldn't be a rocker and started playing bass if not for Green Day. They changed my life.

Green Day, awesome band.... They posted a video from their concert in Hyde Park, London England 2017. You really need to react to it. It's so amazing that they had to share it with the world!!! It is the crowd (65,000+) singing Bohemian Rhapsody during an intermission, so there is NO ONE on stage directing them and the crowd does the entire song, word for word. Freddie still had the audience in the palm of his hands, 27 years after his passing.... You have to see it for yourself, it'll give you chills!! Keep in mind, Green Day posted it themselves.... Also, "When I Come Around" is another one of Green Day's many good songs.

Don't get me wrong, Green Day has some great songs. This song included. I didn't really like it when it came out, but over time it grew on me.
This is acually 50s music. Greenday is a good band, BUT, all it is is 1950s music with a grungy distortion sound and urban lyrics. I didn't really see that until I became a musician. Its all there folks. Listen hard at what it actually is.
Green day was the first band that I bought their back catalog when I discovered them. Even back in '93 many people didn't know that it was their 3rd album that finally made them famous.

I'm going to date myself here, but their song "Good Riddance" was my class graduation song! Greenday was one of the defining bands of my generation.
These lyrics are permanently burned into my brain. I don't even have to think about it, I just hear the opening chords, and it automatically comes out.
"Dookie" is BY FAR my favorite album of theirs. Their stuff from the 90's is the best, in my opinion: "Dookie"(1994), "Insomniac"(1995), and "Nimrod"(1997) are best. 👌👌
Green Day is one of my favorite bands , they have a massive library of music that you could spend a year in review. Very popular and high energy. They helped me get through some hard times.

I saw them live at a free concert in Boston in the 90s and there were so many ppl there and they were so hyped that they had to cancel the show, which then caused a riot. I love Green Day

My friends and I were 3rd row center, close enough for me to get spit on by Billie Joe! Now 40 and have been in love with Billie Joe Armstrong ever since! Fabulous reaction as always! "Longview" has a great bass intro... And this album (Dookie) was a huge hit when we were in highschool. Many of us learned (or tried to learn) guitar with Smell Like teen Spirit from Nirvana and this song from Green Day... It's our "hymn"...
Pop punk can be a lot of fun. I'd suggest checking out bands like The Vandals or Goldfinger if you liked this.

Ah man you have no idea how this takes me back to my teen days. The jukebox in our leisure center on my school campus had the money box taken out of it by staff because we would come in there after 3:30 and just put 50p through it over and over and over again, playing every Green Day, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Guns N Roses and Bon Jovi song. Extreme's More than Words would get played a few times too. The early 90s was THE BEST ERA for music.

I recently listened to Dookie again. It brought back memories of my 6th/7th-grade best friend and me in her room, listening to that album (and also some Coolio, Alanis Morrissette, and Muchmusic Dance Mix '95🍁).

Love me some Green Day. When I Come Around is probably my favorite but Boulevard of Broken Dreams is right up there. When I found out that the song Time of Your Life - Good Riddance was written about a broken relationship I adopted it as me and my ex's anthem. They got so many great songs.
