Travis seems like a person that once he's your friend he's a friend forever.
He is one of the best people I have ever met.
The best friend I could ever ask for.
Great story. Some really tear jerking, heart string pulling stories from Travis, last few times. Awesome!
I saw this comment when I started the video and didn't understand how a video titled like this could stir emotions but, here I am at the end of it teary eyed
Ok glad I’m not the only one I’m sitting here at the end of the video going awwwwww right on👌🏻!🥲
Had me shed a tear too bro..gr8 story for real
Travis Matthew you are the man sir. Great vid as always! - Rabbit 😎
Its the best thing in the World that you and Travis are buds, big love from Australia boys!
Yeah right, the "greatest thing" is your handle, good sir. Lol I got a good chuckle when I saw it man but it reminds me of my alter ego that happens to sing for an 80's tribute band (in which I have proudly named) *PHALUS STOOPER* lol, but yes Travis is the man, can't deny it, keep safe down there in Oceania, and stay free brother.
Travis is one of the best story-tellers on the channel. Gets you emotionally invested. Thanks for another great one!
10:25 dude is tearing up and his mother crying in the best way possible, really great stuff you did there, always nice when you do something so incredible moving and seeing someone overwhelmed with joy. generosity which came from the heart is always so touching
Sending Happy Father’s Day to a single mom is such a sweetheart thing to tell her. Love that.
Hard disagree. There's already a day for that.
Lol
It's a little fucked up if actually think about it.
What the shit lmao
I'm from Adelaide , south Australia, where those cars were built. It's great to see that a car person in the USA appreciates those. For reference, 2017 models of high end commodores now sell for upto, 1..million but that's extremely high end.
Man I tell you what I almost skipped todays episode, but then I saw it was Travis and Travis never disappoints… today was absolutely no exception, what a great story. Even Travis got a little vaclement talking about the reveal.
You're lucky to have a mother in law that's so good to you that you care enough to do stuff like that for her. I actually have 2 mother in laws and my gift giving goes about as far as a funny t-shirt or bottle of wine.
I got mine a hearse, luckily enough she went straight in it 😂👌
Its always amazing what emotions "an old car" can bring about in people. Great story!
Travis delivering another top notch story. One of the best storytellers on VinWiki.
amen my man, some people have amazing circumstances, or unbelievable strokes of luck, but Travis, he goes straight to our hearts
I know the person who had it. She didn't take care of it at all the one in Daphne. Amazing story you teared up telling the story that's so amazing man
She lived in an apartment and worked at the Winn Dixie. She traded it in on a purple Kia.
Great story, as an Aussie I love seeing the Holden Commodore AKA Pontiac G8 AKA Chevy SS getting respect in the USA!
Lancasters
Does Holden still make them? In SA we got them named Chevy Lumina SS.
@@karaboRiley Sadly no, Holden ceased manufacturing cars in late 2017 and then ceased to exist as a brand in 2020.
@@jamiespinks3657 that's pretty sad. I thought maybe they stopped shipping them this side. They were nice cars. Especially the bakkie.
@@karaboRiley Ah, so you are South African. When you mentioned bakkie (ute/ pickup) it all made sense.. I initially thought SA stood for South Australia! 😉
That's truly awesome, great job son-in-law!
Travis is such a righteous dude!💯💯💯💯
1:23 I also dig that Aussie sedan look. Always thought it would be cool to build a Maverick sedan into a Summer Nat's Aussie style muscle car especially with a 4.0L Barra.
Made me tear up man, I love this kind of stuff. This is what I want to do for my dad with a new truck some day. Giving to others is the ultimate way to spend money.
It's nice when you can do something up your alley for someone you love and really have them appreciate it. Also G8 for wife, good trade.
Oh Travis, your such a sweetheart to your mother in law, your a legend, Rj in Oz
Also a Comerdore owner,
You really haven't lived until you give someone a car. I gave my niece a car for her graduation. It was fantastic.
Arguably one of the greatest VINwiki stories!
It could have been about ANY car. But it's always more about the people and the (insert car here) they love. I so love that the car in this story probably wouldn't even get a second look from the 'average car guy" driving by.
Travis, you are well within your coverage!
I paid for my mother in laws hearse, does that count 😂
Lmfao
Love this guy. I live in Southern Indiana so seeing a fellow Hoosier on here makes me smile.
That was very generous act Travis gifting a car to you mother in law you are a good hearted man.
Awesome story!!! I love my G8 GT!!!!! Finally some Pontiac/Holden love from the car community! Great video!!!
this is wild to see this story here after following things on the G8 FB group! Travis is as always an excellent story teller!
Now that's a great human. Not just the fact he gave his mother in law a car but that he had the thought and noticed what she liked. Not many people like that
Wow, this is awesome. Words can not begin to describe the respect I have a single parent that raised their kid(s), especially a nurse.
The true calling of the car community. Travis is a hell of a guy, what a great thing to do. It shows the amount of respect he has for his Mother-in-law, which can be hard to find!
It was so great to play a small part in this. It took a whole crew to make it all come together at the right time.
Excellent story. Remember to keep the polish on that color. Being from Australia, you can expect some serious UV damage to that beauty as it soaks up the sun. Also the metal vs plastic painted parts age differently. Thanks for the great yarn🇦🇺
*That* is the kind of car story I love to hear - and the older one gets, the more you realize
it's this sort of story that resonates more with a true "car guy", not to mention a good-hearted
human being in general.
Good on ya, Travis. Well done sir.
- Ed on the Ridge
AWESOME Spirit of GIVING! Congrats on spreading so much joy Travis.
Great story. Shoutout to the shelbyville wife and family. I was raised in Shelby County, little farm town of boggstown In.
Made me cry.... so wonderful
Wow that was really powerful. Started to tear up at times. Good on Travis. That’s a really incredible thing to do.
This pulls on the heart strings man. Great story.
Travis, you are a top man. Not just for doing this but for nailing it too, picking up on the purple obsession and following it through. Absolutely brilliant.
I almost lost if when you did though...
So beautiful! Happy for everyone involved. I love purple too, didnt know about that burple! Pretty cool.
if you're thinking of buying one of these cars, their truly special, not the fastest or luxurious but a car that has character, thank you Holden
Always some of the most heart warming stories come from this man. Hell yeah travis, thank you for sharing this with us. The parents/car thing always pulls at me quite a bit. I hope shes loving the hell out of that car.
Great job on doing that. She is lucky to have you. You are lucky to have a MIL that gives you the reason to do something like that.
Great story. I'll never be able to forget surprising my wife with a used FJ Cruiser. It was the color she wanted, and had everything she wanted. Ive never given her a gift that was perfect, that day is unforgettable. Choked up a bit when you described that feeling.
Great story! she sounds like an awesome lady, good on you two!
As an aussie who drives a wagon one of these, I love seeing the passion from so far away. The colour in australia was called Kapow which is absolutely hilarious.
To be able to give back to someone who you owe so much to is such a privilege! That was awesome! Heart warming story! ❤️
An old friend's grandmother owned Blurple Mustangs of every generation that she bought new as they came out. 1964.5 to 2005. Custom Blurple interiors and all! It was a sight to see every generation of Mustang lined up out front.
RIP Purple Lightening.
The funny thing is no matter how many shots of the blurple cars shown in this video, not a single one of them looks like the actual color looks like in real life.
Once again Travis shows us why he is one of the nicest blokes ever !! Not only do you have the finest taste in vehicles, you clearly have exquisite taste in a partner and a fantastic Mother In Law, all rightfully and well deserved good Sir !! Magic story from a fantastic bloke !!
Awesome story. Thank you Travis.
She reminds me of my Grandma. I teared up a bit when I saw the reaction. Good shit Travis, I love this.
amazing gift and well-executed. a real tear-jerker for sure. well deserved for a cool single mom!
WOW! This is the (literal) HOLY GRAIL of the Holdiac world!!!
I've been into the Holden/Pontiacs since 2004, when I first saw the "GTO". I have been to thosands of car shows and have NEVER seen a Blurple G8 in person. There was one at the second Pontiac Adventures weekend at the Chula Vista resort in the Wisconsin Dells. CVRaZy enough, it wasn't even part of the show. It was just a random person who had it and was at the resort that particular weekend. The people running the event (Chris and Deb) asked if they could park the car in the show field, because they knew of the rarity of the car. From what I gathered, the owners were sorta reluctant - BECAUSE - their car was dirty. The owners did park it in the show field and a bunch of people who were IN the show washed, waxed and completely detailed their car for them. THey even asked them to join in on some of the cruises planned that weekend...but they opted not to partake.
^^^ I was a year late to this show, but was the closest I've been to actually seeing one of these cars!
Awesome story and thing that you did Travis, much respect to you for being that kind of person!
Travis choking up again, so heart warming to see genuine affection.
Travis, Christopher, and Rob are three guests that make this channel so special.
Fantastic. I wish I had that kind of relationship with my in laws but that’s life. Great story Travis. I’m happy for all.
There is such a great feeling when you give of yourself freely!
Great Story, sounds like you all deserve each other! Thanks for sharing!
Tears here from Wisconsin . Big hearts and smiles go for miles
These feel good stories always make me so happy.
Damn near jerked a tear. Beautiful use of knowledge and resources. Such an awesome guy, family and story
Great story. So nice to hear one like this for a change. Thank you!
Very cool story! Glad I have gotten to see these cars in person, and I’m sure I will again! Way to go Travis!
Awesome story! I love the weird combinations of all the Holdens brought over to the US
you missed out on the sportswagon & pickup ( it was going to be marketed as a sport truck).
Great story. Almost brought me to tears just listening to it.
This is one amazing reason we love cars and great car stories!
Cool story Travis. You sir are a great family man. Well done. Great looking color. I see why she likes it so much.
Good day to the crew at Vinwiki from mid Tn. I hope everyone has a great day.
Excellent story brother, you are a good man. It's amazing how giving someone, especially a well deserving person, this type of gift is actually more beneficial to you in terms of happiness than the actual receiver.
You did good brother, I hope she enjoys it for many years to come.
Good job Travis! Happy Wife's Mom Happy life!
Travis may not have the wildest stories, or the coolest ones, but he has the stories your best friends tell, and that makes them just a little bit special in my books.
Someone get this man’s an award. You sir are a hero
That is fantastic! Glad to hear that she has a fantastic blurpal ride.
Definitely one of the best vin wiki stories by far. I did something similar in surprising my wife with a 2001 solara convertible. She always wanted one, so I have reworked it over the years and now seats to be reupholstered. I have a video of her opening the garage door when she pulled up in the drive and is speechless.
You’re a good “bloke” Travis. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I love listening to travis' stories. As someone who's adopted I do relate to a lot of what he says
Never a bad story from Travis!!
Travis is my absolute favorite guest (Doug is second). What a wonderful, heartwarming story.
Truly moving story Travis. Thank you for sharing it with us.
This is one of the best stories on this channel so far.👍👍
The best gift you could ever get someone is something they could get themselves, but will never go out and buy.
Travis, you’re an inspiration. Such a nice, thoughtful, stand-up, good guy. May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be at your taillights, may all LEOs you encounter wave you on!
Every mother deserves a son-in-law like Travis.
What an absolutely heart warming story. You are a living legend Travis. Well done Sir.👍
Watching you get nearly choked up because of what all of you did is powerful. All great influences here.
Just beautiful. You're a great big softy Travis and I appreciate ya for it.
Such a great guy. Continue to stay blessed
That's a wonderful thing you did. I know what you mean about tracking down a parent's old car but in my case I only want to track down and find comparable versions of the two mid to late 70's Chevys my parents had when I was learning to drive in the 80's but for me not them.
This colour came about because we did a build of 400 rep-mobiles for Cadbury Schweppes, here in Australia. We built 400 executives with a Satnav upgrade and shipped them to Prixcar, where they put the Cadbury stickers on them.
The colour was slightly modded for some utilities in SS-guise, but yeah - you got this "blurple" because there was about 200L of it sitting here in stores. The colour didn't last well over here. Many of those Cadbury cars are scrapped now, but the occasional one survives here and there - they faded really badly. They looked spectacular in SS trim though.
As an Aussie Holden commodore owner, awesome story!
Holden made some great colours over the years. My personal favourite is Poison Ivy which was found in the Series 2 VE from 2010(ish) - 2013. They also had another purple called morpheous (very popular) which I got confused with the one in the video, but that goes by k-pow metallic blue rather then stealth blue in Australia
Dang it! Last few Travis stories I seem to get dust in my eyes or something and they won’t stop watering up… what an awesome story!
Travis is the hero we all need right now
That is awesome! I had a 09 G8 GT in Stryker Blue and it was an awesome car. A freaking cruise missile on the hwy as well. That platform was the base for the newer rwd caddys & camaro when they came out so all the performance parts easily swap over. Only downside is parts are getting harder to come by for them for normal wear items. But damn was an awesome car it is. The stealth blues or burples as they are called in the G8 community are a rare bird indeed. I think less then 200 made it over.
Order the parts you need from from Australia..They're a dime a dozen here..
@@paulsz6194 not that easy anymore. People are started to horde those parts over there as well. Not to mention the cost of freight getting parts shipping is cost prohibitive unless you do a large bulk container order and even then it is still not worth it.
Second one of Travis's VinWiki stories that brought a tear to the eye.
Great story! Absolutely loved this!
The blue is so stealth it looks purple love the stories Travis you never disappoint !
Imagine owning a Stealth Blue Pontiac G8, a Mystic Blue Saturn Vue and a Blue Flash Chevy HHR SS half panel. Now that's a dream garage!
Such a wonderful story Travis.
It’s funny that you have Holdens, especially the green one, that was everywhere in Sydney when it came out
