If you feel alone because no one is sharing your enthusiasm for new elevators please don't, there are few of us in this world who totally get you and get excited for all these little details, thanks for the great video :)

It’s good to know in advance about Station facilities, entrances and connections.
I don’t visit Bond Street often, but this could save me loads of time at some point in the future.

I have to wonder if the guys who keep an eye on the cctv think 'who's that weirdo (meant in the nicest way possible) with the camera?' Only to realise 'oh, it's Geoff' lol.

What a maze it has created, especially using the lifts with all the sub-levels listed in - brings a whole new meaning of going South to go North!!! But I'm sure people will get used to it. Like all crossways / interconnecting corridors is them snaking around existing tubes including the Mail tubes...but at least it's ready for CrossRail

As a Canadian (from Toronto) I have been enthused by the Tube since my first ride as a small boy back in 1968. I enjoy your videos and keep them coming. I was in Toronto with my family in June. Being a Londoner, I am used to the underground system here and I liked the Toronto system, probably because it's closer in nature to London than, say the New York Subway which is much more functional

Can you please say Crossrail? Because the "Elizabeth Line" is NOT a Metro line, but heavy rail, similar to the "S-Bahn" in Germany, so the therm "Line" shouldn't be used, because that is for Underground lines only!

Crossrail is presumably called that because unlike most mainline routes, it goes right through rather than terminating.
One of its purposes is to supplement the Central Line which is at capacity - I got this on good authority from my friend who is a project manager for the Crossrail construction.

The last time i went to London for the day on my own back in 2015 all of that work was still under constructuon.
It looks really nice now that it's all fully completed with the addition of the new Elizabeth Line station now at Bond Street as well.
I wonder if they have completed all of the refurbishment work at Marble Arch Tube station as well because that was still ongoing when i was also there back in 2015.
This was all part of the Tube Upgrade Plan that Transport for London & London Underground was doing over a 10 year period.
Upgrading the Tube Stations in London with new trains, new signalling system and new train track and ticket offices.
I wonder if it's still ongoing now in January 2023.

I was at Bond Street on Wednesday just ahead of the "big reveal". As I was in work/commuter mode, I just went rushing through - Jubilee to Central - and missed what must've been lots clues to the imminent opening.
Update: was back at Bond Street today. Decided to use the new lifts to see the shiny new corridors. Enlightened a couple of what turned out to be first time London tourists about how new that part was, not that it meant much to them.

It’s sort of a shame that the lifts are actually cheap generic ones but they could of been better if they were well built Otis or Schindler lifts! Also the staff only floors in those lifts are probably station offices, plant rooms, storage floors or maybe even a signalling control centre! :)

  • @AdamSalter93

Awesome vid, looks really impressive (and clean!) When you get the chance, could you do a vid on the Bank/Monument upgrade? They’ve changed the Monument Ticket Hall with a new ‘Control Centre’, putting a new ‘Bloomberg’ entrance in at Bank and possibly moving the Northern Line Platforms. I will admit to a slight bias as someone who worked on the project.

Hey Geoff nice vid as always.....this is not related to this video but as I’m here I’ll ask anyway, I’ve always wanted to know, at the stations where the platforms have a glass barrier at the platform edge to stop people going on to the tracks, how do the trains always manage to stop in the perfect position so that the doors align with the doors on the barrier, what if the train overshoots? Do the drivers have to practice like mad to get the perfect alignment?

Computer controlled, the drivers aren’t stopping the trains, the whole of the jubilee is computer controlled - which is why there are no signals on it anymore!

If there are no ticket barriers - do people get in without paying?? Pretty sure I saw some ticket barriers there.

You should do an all the busses series in London where you travel the full length of the routes in order.

Its 2022 and Properly confusing ? unless you somehow have a 3D model of the two lines (and now the Elizabeth Line which i'll be looking at next) in your head as you ascend-descend using the lifts. No way for the stairs on first use. Why is there a yellow line at 'Bond Street' platform signage . On the platform itself.
