    They demolished a building I worked in - 10 King William St, to create access for this, so I knew about it back in 2014. Thanks for finally making a video about it Geoff!

      Got rid of the entire block! Fascinating to use Google Street View history slider to watch it all disappear. I'm sure they'll put another high rise building on top but it looks nicer as an open space at the moment.

    I was there in the 90’s when they redid Angel Station and opened up Bank Station to the DLR. Not much fun during construction work but much better when it was done. Bank Station was always filthy and full of soot. This looks another good improvement. Saying that I haven’t lived in London in nearly 20 years and have no real desire to go back.

    About time. That was a long walk from the northern line to the central line used to do that 2 times a day 10+ years ago. I changed at London Bridge after a while and got the bus as I hated it in rush hour.

    - Joe Brown's London Track Book shows 3 platforms and 5 platforms at Bank (on the Northern). What's that all about ?
    - I'm excited about the people mover/movator/moving walkway or what have you, also. I totally share your excitement about that and the original tiles also. YES !!

    • @norbitonflyer5625
      @norbitonflyer5625 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Connecting the two would be difficult because of everything else in the way - starting with the Central Line at Bank. And the platform lengths and tunnel sizes of the W&C (which can only take 4-car Tube size stock) would limit the capacity of such a combined line to much less than that of the existing Northern City (which currently uses six car trains of full main line size). Rebuilding the W&C to main line size would cost more than building a new line (and cause huge disruption whilst it was being done). So if you want a line to connect the GN and SW main lines, better to start from scratch - which is what Crossrail 2 will be.

    It would be nice if, once the work is complete, part of the old King William Street station could be brought back into use as an entrance/exit.

    With capacity on the tube normally at very high demand just wondering if through your contacts in London Underground are there any plans to lengthen platforms / make station improvements to accommodate longer trains starting on the busiest lines. I appreciate this would be a massive project to undertake as it would require all stations to be improved on the line before potentially 10-12 carriage trains would be able to operate vastly increasing the capacity across London Underground.
    Also Geoff, with the new projects you are talking about will we be seeing platform edge doors on all LU project sites, appreciate Elizabeth Line will have them, Jubilee line extension does too, however moving forward this type of safety measure is something we must strive towards.

    Geoff I saw that in Boston in the US they put old trains on display on spare subway p!atforms. Can you think of anywhere in London where there is space to do the same thing?

    It seems a failed opportunity not to use the old C&SLR tunnels for a travellator to connect Bank to London Bridge. At rush hour lots of people seem to take the Northern Line just for this one stop to connect between Central/District/Circle Lines and Jubilee Line/Trains at London Bridge. A travellator could take a significant chunk of those people off the trains.

    Geoff Marshall Could you please make a video of all the different types of Underground 🚇 Trains on the Various Lines of the London Underground? I am a fan of London Underground and Metros ! I really like the trains as there are many different types and it would really help me understand the London Underground Trains a bit Better, Thank You!

    There's already a direct lift from street level, but if you ever try to use it it's "Unavailable due to staff shortages'. I wonder if the new lifts will be the same.
